The breach is growing. Any thoughts on where this is headed?

But for all the criticisms from the leadership of the Catholic pro-life movement both lay and religious over the Kennedy affair, nothing has approached the vitriol of Fr. Rosica's own commentary. "(S)omething is terribly wrong in the pro-life movement. Civility, charity, mercy and politeness seem to have dropped out of the pro-life lexicon."

"Through vicious attacks launched on blogs, a new form of self-righteousness, condemnation and gnosticism reveals authors who behave as little children bullying one another around in schoolyards- casting stones, calling names, and wreaking havoc in the Church today! What such people fail to realize is that their messages are ultimately screamed into a vacuum. No one but their own loud crowd is really listening. … Sowing seeds of hatred and division are not the work of those who wish to build a culture of life."

But...but...but...there are no divisions in the Catholic Church! /sarc

I used to think this Arroyo guy was a stiff, he seemed made of plastic or something. I was wrong, he nails it.

Freegards, thanks for all the awesome pings

However, the root of Fr. Rosica's concerns seems to be the fact that lay persons are daring to publicly question the actions of clergy.

So Fr. Rosica is upset that Catholics can see, hear and know the truth instead of the Kennedy script that he and Boston Cardinal Sean O'Malley are trying to peddle.

The pendulum is swinging back in the American Church. We just have to patiently wait until all the kooky baby boomer priests retire. The young men responding to the call now are not in it for the glory. It’s a very hard, lowly, and lonely road these days to be a priest and only those with true vocations will choose it.

The Holy Spirit is still guiding the Church and the scandals have placed priests back in the role Christ had in mind for them: servants of the Church. I feel great hope for the future of the American Church. It will be a smaller, but even more faithful Catholic Church that awaits the coming of Christ. The sobering thought is all those poor souls who are being so poorly taught the Catholic faith while we wait for the new generation of priests.

If some members of the clergy acted as a Priest/Bishop should act, people would not have to question them.

Hmm. Christ displayed anger from time to time and He is after all, our example. The major thing that I believe most people come away with from the Kennedy fiasc- um,funeral is that money talks and the cardinals and bishops of the Roman Catholic Church listen very closely when it does.

On his blog Arroyo wrote, "The prayer intercessions at the funeral mass, the endless eulogies, the image of the Cardinal Archbishop of Boston reading prayers, and finally Cardinal McCarrick interring the remains sent an uncontested message: One may defy Church teaching, publicly lead others astray, deprive innocent lives of their rights, and still be seen a good Catholic, even an exemplary one."

True words.
