LA education conference closing liturgy or reason #65648 for Summorum Pontificum
Note the total absence of a crucifix! Not even the processional cross bears the likeness of the crucified Lord. And check out the expressions on the Eastern Rite bishops -"shock and awe".
This is my sole beef with Roman Catholicism: They want me to roll over and allow my country to devolve into a 3rd world ghetto republic, for humanitarian reasons.
I stand against that concept.
What is your understanding of the Catholic Church's position on immigration? What are your sources?
Holy Liturgical Trivialization, Batman!
Wow ... just ... ... ... wow.

There are answers to your question on the other links that I just posted. Also sockmonkey can give you more details.
I don't know that the USCCB is synonymous with the Catholic Church, but it is the division which most directly effects US policy. In June of 2009 the USCCB, through a statement from Cardinal Francis George, urged President Bush to enact comprehensive Immigration reform, ie. Amnesty. In fact the Justice for Immigrants committee of the USCCB generally takes the most radical approach to immigration reform possible, as is obvious from just skimming over it's website and archives.
The current head RC guy in the L.A. area has been a vocal proponent of illegal immigration to this country. The RC leadership stands opposed to our laws regarding immigration. This is not new news; it’s been going on for quite a while.
Gomez, though not widely quoted on this part of his immigration stance, always supports government's laws on immigration be followed to maintain order. Yes, he does say that there should be compassion for families who are affected by deportations when not all family members are legal, but he fully supports the rights of the Government to enact and enforce immigration law
I am RC, and he is my Archbishop in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. He also is very public in his stance on issues such as Terry Schiavo's murder, Catholic Politicians who support abortion, and gay marriage.
This could be a win-win. Obviously Bishop Jose Gomez’s Hispanic heritage will be a big hit in LA. And according to everything I have read about him, he is quite conservative and is a member of Opus Dei, which is of course, the subject of many left wing conspiracy theories. I am sure he will be much more conservative than one he is replacing.
It is always best to know the facts.

From a comment on a blog in the San Antonio Archdiocese:
Having attended Good Friday Service at San Fernando before the evening Tenebrae at Atonement, I can tell you that the Liturgy was reverent with the Archbishop laying on the floor before the altar and kissing the ground.
Wow! Did you watch the video posted above? This is what he will be up against beginning shortly after his installation. Just as you can't turn an oceanliner around too quickly, so it will be with this archdiocese. It will begin with proper catechesis in the faith. May our Lord bless him on this new journey!
Press conference?
I get the Tidings (LA diocese newspaper) and it is unfailingly friendly with the Aztlan crowd, it is written with only Mexican/S.American immigrants in mind. It hardly mentions Mahony’s legal obstructions and the huge $ guilt payouts.
I’m RCC and ashamed to say that this is the WORST run American diocese (and the nation’s biggest). I’m not happy about this turn of events, I wish Mahony had left in a perp walk. There was no crackdown. It’s a travesty of justice.
I love my Church and want what’s BEST for it. But I’m tired of trying to defend the indefensible. I’ll pray for this new guy, but I’m not confident. He just may continue the “sanction” policies of that degenerate Mahony. I’ll be watching.
Here UK Telegraph version of the story apparently Pope getting last laugh LOL!
