believersingrace.com | 4/20/10 | Bill Randles

Last Wednesday evening I did n exposition of Joel chapter three ,which includes a warning of signs in the sky,"Blood and fire and vapors of smoke" before the great and terrible "day of the Lord". within two hours, our evening sky was lit up with a meteorite! The next day, all flights in and out of a vast portion of Europe, because of a volcanic ash cloud. Everybody get ready- the day of the Lord is at hand!

"Wasn't the blood of the Passover lamb to applied to the doorpost to protect from the Angel of death ?"

Yes but it only was to spare the life of the Jews in the house. Their sin status would have been unchanged. Yom Kippur, is the Day of Atonement, which involves forgiveness. Plus, the three main means of forgiveness of sin without blood, Prayer, Repentance, Charity.

"Weren't all who in the house covered by the blood, both gentile and Jew." Gentiles are forbbiden to partake unless they have been circumsized (accepted the covenant of Moses):

Passover Restrictions 43 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "These are the regulations for the Passover: "No foreigner is to eat of it. 44 Any slave you have bought may eat of it after you have circumcised him, 45 but a temporary resident and a hired worker may not eat of it.

46 "It must be eaten inside one house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones. 47 The whole community of Israel must celebrate it.

48 "An alien living among you who wants to celebrate the LORD's Passover must have all the males in his household circumcised; then he may take part like one born in the land. No uncircumcised male may eat of it. 49 The same law applies to the native-born and to the alien living among you."

"Wasn't Isaac replaced by a lamb as a blood sacrifice ?"

No, he was replaced by a Ram. Thus making it clear that G-d was never to accept human sacrifice. Even though Issac was willing, G-d provided a Ram, animal offering.

"What's the differences between Abram and Abraham?"

And also, it was Abram that tithed to Melchizedek not Abraham. That is significant and the writer of Hebrews was wrong in calling him Abraham.

My cursory view is that it’s more than a little plausible.

That and the chip ID implant would certainly fit the Biblical description of the MARK OF THE BEAST.

But every time you Chicken Littles predict that it's just around the corner, a few more people decide that Christians are all idiots.

Only because nobody takes the time to explain why events could be the signs of the coming Tribulation. My experience has been that most people who scoff when I try to explain why something could be a sign of the Tribulation think the resurrection of Jesus Christ is myth.

With the rebirth of the nation of Israel, the rise of deviant behavior, the falling away from Christianity a large meteorite can take on a whole lot more meaning.

The Bible tells us that when Israel becomes a nation again, that generation will not pass without seeing the return of Messiah.

I'm not sure this is an accurate interpretation. I believe a better understanding of Luke 21:32 is the generation that sees the beginning of the Tribulation will see it's end.

Israels strongest ally has put a muslim sympathizing leader in place. He has done everything except openly admit hatred and opposition to Israel.

So true, who would have believed it just 4-5 years ago?

A few of those nations are not Muslim:

They will be sooner than people realize.

The avg birthrate in Europe for non muslims is about 1.6. The avg for muslims is 8.1. It's even worse in Russia.

Perhaps the author of Hebrews or
perhaps the translators into English.

Funny, my experience is that when I scoff at the Chicken Littles proclaiming the signs of the end, they like to question whether I even believe in the resurrection of Christ. Whatever it takes to derail the discussion, I guess.

With the rebirth of the nation of Israel, the rise of deviant behavior, the falling away from Christianity a large meteorite can take on a whole lot more meaning.

Right. A large meteorite, the equivalent of which occurs every year. And a medium-sized volcano, just because it's affecting areas we think of as being "important."

You want to know why I scoff at predictions like this? It's not because I'm a preterist. It's not because I don't buy into the basic theology. It's because those making the predictions demonstrate absolutely no awareness of any history before five minutes ago. They forget that far more significant events have occurred - even since the founding of modern Israel - and that they and their theological companions have made the same predictions - and nothing has happened.

The way things are going in Russia you are more than likely to have some serious Russian on Muslim violence which can change that demographic quickly. The Muslims in Russia also inhabit the former provinces around Afghanistan. Put your money on the Russkies they are 3 times more violent than the Muslims are and four times more cruel.

"Look at the fig tree and all the trees. 30When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. 31Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.

32"I tell you the truth, this generation[b] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

Ancient Israelites always identified their nation or people to the fig tree. So when Christ talked about the fig tree it was natural for them to identify it as Israel. The key to this is verse 30 "When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near." Sprouting leaves was a sign of rebirth and growth. So with the sprouting leaves of the fig tree, comes the rebirth of Israel.

Spring signals rebirth and growth, a time of renewal. The tribulation, particularly the Great Tribulation, is called a time of Jacobs trouble. It is seen as a time of persecution, judgement and death.

Isaiah 27:6
6 In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.

Israel today has literally made the desert bloom. Before 1948 it was a desert, a wasteland. Today Israel is on of the largest exporters of citrus. It exports tulips INTO THE NETHERLANDS.

Israel has become the blossoming fig tree.

Without verse 30, MAYBE, maybe it would be possible to see the generation that sees the beginning of the trib, will see its end. The problem with that is the trib is only 7 years long. With 3-1/2 "good" years.

Israel has sprouted leaves, has the tribulation started?

Israels birth signifies the kingdom of the Lord is near, not the tribulation. The tribulation is part of the time leading to the Kingdom Of God, but it is not the focus, the focus is The Kingdom Of God. That is what we are to be looking for.

One thing to remember is that Russia IS the former Soviet Union. Putin is consolidating the area again to rebuild Russia into the new Soviet Union. Look what nations were part of the former Soviet Union. There are a lot of ‘Stans that were part of the Soviet Union. Bring them back into it and “Russia” becomes a Islamic influenced country.

But they are well below a self sustaining birth rate of 2.2. In time they will be overwhelmed by numbers.

A couple of factors come into it. One: the Soviets got their collective asses handed to them in Afghanistan and they were a lot stronger then.

Two: the Americans are not fighting them now.

Three: under Putin, they are regaining their barbaric edge.

Four: they handled the Chechens and Georgians with an iron fist in an iron glove.

Conclusion: any fight will be cruel and bloody, but I must agree that the Russians will eventually win out.

Gog is a name or title. Magog is a land, most feel it is Russia.

I've heard of Gomer being Germany. But if we look at where the descendants of Gomer originally settled, it is the area north of the Black Sea. Turkey, a nation listed in Ezekiel is south of the Black Sea. Russia is just east of there.

If we detach ourselves from recent history and Germany and the Jews, and look at where Gomer was origanally, the southern area of Ukraine, and then look at a map of where the rest of the coalition forces against Israel come from, I think it becomes pretty possible THIS is the area of Gomer. This area has strong ties geographically, politically and historically with the rest of the areas listed in Ezekiel.

Just my 2 cents, FWIW.

Let me throw it back to you this way. What are "these things" that need to happen?

The sprouts may not be rebirth and growth, but instead may be the fulfillment of prophesy and as we see more and more prophesy fulfilled we move closer to the kingdom of God. It does not necessitate that within a certain number of years after Israel is reborn and Jews from all over the world return that the Tribulation will occur.
