Question: I read recently that the Catholic Church had rejected Mormon baptism, since their view of Christ and the Trinity is so unusual. But I have to ask: Are Mormons considered separated brothers and sisters? While their views are strange to say the least, they are still separated, and we should reach out to them. If we view them as something other than separated, doesn't that exclude ecumenism? I know that many view them as a cult, but aren't cult members separated as well?
Answer: The reason Mormons are not considered separated brethren is not because they aren't "separated" from the Church-they are-but they aren't "brethren" in the sense required.
The phrase separated brethren refers to those who, though separated from full communion with the Catholic Church, have been justified through baptism and are thus brethren in Christ. The Decree on Ecumenism (Unitatis Redintegratio) of Vatican II teaches that "all who have been justified by faith in baptism are members of Christ's body, and have a right to be called Christian, and so are correctly accepted as brothers by the children of the Catholic Church."
Because Mormonism is polytheistic and rejects the Trinity, Mormon baptism is not valid, and Mormons are not considered separated brethren. For the same reason, outreach to them, while certainly a good thing, is not ecumenism, though it can include dialogue and social cooperation as well as efforts to evangelize them.

At least the pre 1950’s LDS church proudly proclaimed what they believed. Now it seems to all be a cover and a ruse to seem like they belong to the Christian body. Stand out and tell us all how we are all wrong and that the LDS church is the only true Christian Church.

At no time have I ever heard of a verbal detailed of what God looked like...
We do not have an exact picture of even the Lord everyone gives an impression of what they think he looks like.
Now I have seen am impression of the Father and the Son but no one know for sure.

I knew tons of negatives before I was baptized becasue I did my homework I read the History of the Church warts and all and even Walter Martin stuff.
But I had a witness from the Holy Spirit i also learn..

Had a mormon tell me...I shouldn't get all wrapped up in Jesus..as He wasn't all that important.
Had a bishop of LDS, Inc....tell me he had been working in his yard digging out "nigger heads"...his name for rocks.
I can give you many other examples...if you want.
LDS, Inc is about $$$ plain and simple. Started with J. Smith...and continues today.

Glad to hear you made eagle. However, facts are that in 1974 a black boy was denied the position of senior patrol leader solely because he was black. The ombudsman for the state said Mormon "troop policy is that in order for a scout to become a patrol leader, he must be a deacon's quorum president in the LDS Church. Since the boy cannot hold the priesthood, he cannot become a patrol leader." (July 18, 1974, the Salt Lake Tribune). In fact, further investigation at the time showed that all non-mormon boys were barred from lds sponsored troops as well ( (Dialogue, Autumn 1981, vol. 14, no. 3, p. 20).
The NAACP took the mormon church and BSA to court - but the mormon church quickly reversed its policy. All because the mormon church had effectively intergrated its troops with Aaronic Priesthood groups.
So before you toot the horn too loudly, lds troops have a history of racial discrimination. So the instance of racial discrimination described by Caipirabob is not out of the realm. I certainly hope it is an outlier Rip, but you can't deny the past.
You are going to find all kinds of flaws if you look for them.

No I had not heard about the Church he just gave me the book and said read it he was new and said little just to read the mark passages, in the mean time we had a fallen out!
It was about a year later and I was going to throw the book out when I stood over the wastepaper basket and a small voice prompted told me to read the mark passage in the back of the Book

How many ways has it been done already in LDS, Inc's past? Thousands?
I figure they have teams of re-writer's and shredders.....
But since the internet...they have had a tougher time of it. Members are questioning and prospective recruits are researching LDS, Inc...and learning the truth.
Like their main prophets revelations, prophesy, "scripture" whatever you prefer to call it...about American Indians, and American blacks.
They are in a bind here...and they have to know it. On one hand they have stuff named after a BIG prophet named Young...but on the other hand they have to spin like tops and make excuses..day after day, year after year...for one of their MAIN LEADERS.
It's got to grind on the money dudes inside LDS, Inc. I bet in private they cuss his name...and wish he had not said what he believed....

Hmmm...in MY experience of living around and among mormons for years, mormons don't live any better lives than any other group of people. There are frauds aplenty, liars, thieves, drunks, pedophiles and just plain, ordinary fallible and troubled folks among mormons.
The doctrine is so unbelievable unBiblical and non-Christian that the mormon public relations team has decided to emphasize the manufactured false image that the general public including the folks at FR has, in large part, bought into for years.

I disagree here. Certainly there are plenty of funds required to support the church’s worldwide mission, but those funds are a means to an end.
The church does have employees, of course, but I don’t think you will find individuals getting exorbitantly rich from church funds.
Like 4 Billion for a downtown shopping district in SLC? The apostles and president - all sit on various boards of businesses (owned and operated by mormons) and receive 6 figure salaries. How many boards did the apostle Peter sit on Norm? If this is the model of the early church, why did it get left out? How many tents has Monson sewn lately?
Can you also explain the giving in the low millions...when LDS, Inc has reportedly in the range of 30-60 BILLION in assets....?
May I remind you that....ONE BILLION is 1,000 MILLION!!....So that extrapolates to 30,000 to 60,000 MILLION dollars.
You throw out that your church has employee's? Do you realize how much your church taps their members to do free work?
Do YOU realize....the people in LDS, Inc...that ARE making large amounts of money...based on the LDS, Inc....businesses?
Do you realize that certain bishops are listed as owners of LARGE tracts of land?

Having been deeply involved with the LdS Scouting program for quite sometime, IMO, your son will be better off if the leadership behaved as you described. They don’t “get it”.
The LdS Scouting program is an ancillary program designed to support their priesthood program. The priesthood program has ultimate priority over Scouting.
