God is no longer a man, says Scottish Episcopal church (removes all masculine references to God)

The Scottish Episcopal Church has caused controversy by removing masculine references to God in a new order of service.

The new form of worship, which removes words such as 'Lord, he, his, him' and 'mankind' from services, has been written by the church in an attempt to acknowledge that God is 'beyond human gender'.

Episcopalian bishops have approved the introduction of more 'inclusive' language, which deliberately removes references suggesting that God is of male gender

Traditionalists have criticised the changes on the grounds that they smack of political correctness and because they believe they are not consistent with the teachings of the Bible.

The alterations have been made to provide an alternative to the established 1982 Liturgy, which, like the Bible, refers to God as a man.

The new order of service, which can be used by priests if they have difficulties with a male God, has been produced by the church's Liturgy Committee in consultation with the Faith & Order Board of General Synod and the College of Bishops.

“God is not threatened by their announcement. He can handle it.

True, but His inspired word refers to Him as male, also as Father, Prince, etc. So the church is incorrect to remove the masculine pronouns, since God is the one who put them there.

Whooooa. if God made man in his image, and the first man was Adam, he must have been a man. Man was lonely, so God then created a woman from Adams rib. OK, maybe from his DNA, but they may have called it a rib back then? Maybe God was lonely too and made a Momma God and they are sharing the responsibility for mankind, world kind or human kind what ever. Every one loves God, even those nice people who want to stone a woman to death while she is bound and buried 2/3rds of her body length in a hole. All the while shouting how Great God is. Yeah yeah, a different God, but the Pope doesn’t thinks so. The more I read this stuff, the more the question arises; “Are we here, because we are here?”

I was singing a line from “Be Thou My Vision,” that ancient Irish hymn yesterday. I had no trouble singing “Thou my true father, I thy true son” even though I am a woman. I love thinking of God in masculine terms. It’s powerful and strong and noble. I’m his daughter, but I see myself as being cared for tenderly.

Whether God has a gender or not, he chose to represent Himself to us as a male. That's good enough for me.

And Be Thou My Vision is my FAVORITE hymn.

From the same cretins that brought us such fanciful fantasies as “the living constitution” comes “the living Bible”! God might be The Father one minute and God the Ambiguous the next, just like any sexually confused liberal. Isn’t it just precious how they’re trying to remake the Almighty in their own image?

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

For bra-burning feminists so hated men that they castrated God’s son, that whosoever refers to him as the Son should not have eternal life but perish in the fires of political correctness.

I'm continually amused at the pretzels these folks twist themselves into, trying to make the language of the Bible 'inclusive'. How will they ever say the "Lord's Prayer", in the future; Our Parent, who art in Heaven? Or I guess they could say "Our Creator", but they don't believe that anyway.

Unlike those intellectual bright lights in the Scottish Episcopal Church, I'll follow Jesus on this one, because HE is the one who taught us to call God our FATHER.

Jesus told us how to pray to the FATHER.

our FATHER who art in Heaven... seems pretty cut and dry to me.

I’ve always noticed that the promoters of Lesbonics (”inclusive language”) always use “men” in lines like “evil men pursue me” or “violent men pluck my beard.”

God reveals himself in gender. God reveals Himself as a He. Remember language has gender, people have sex. God is masculine without being male. Jesus taught us to pray, Our FATHER when addressing his FATHER. We were commanded to baptize in the Name of the FATHER, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Scottish Episcopal Church has shown itself to be an apostate Christian cult. It certainly does not believe in divine revelation as found in the Scriptures. As a Lutheran pastor, I would not recognize a baptism in this cult as a valid baptism. As far as I am concerned, the Episcopal Scottish Church is a pagan religion.
