It Is Not Whether Korans Should Be Burned, But Who Should Burn Them!
www.caffeinatedthoughts.com ^ | September 10, 2010 | David Shedlock

Just to clarify the position I expressed in my other posts, I do not think it is a good idea for a minister of the gospel to burn Qurans. Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center should go to where Muslims are and preach the free grace and forgiveness of God gained by Jesus Christ on the Cross and offered in the Free Gospel.

But not all book burning is bad. I would much rather, however, see ex-Muslims burn their own Korans just as I'd rather have Latter Day Saints burn their own books of Mormon:

Acts 19:18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
My other reason for diving headlong into this issue is not to defend Jones, but ask for some perspective. What Jones threatened to do to commemorate 9/11 is far less abhorrent than professing Christian ministers offering to read from the Koran in their pulpits or joining with Mormon Glenn Beck and Islamic Imams as if Christians had anything spiritually in common with them. We don't. Let's not water down the gospel while throwing water on Pastor Jones's bonfire.

Who should burn them? The U.S. Army...

Army burns bibles in Afghanistan
May 20, 2009
http://www.cathnewsusa.com/article.aspx?aeid=13885

US military personnel threw away, and ultimately burned, confiscated Bibles that were printed in common local languages over concern they would be used to try to convert Afghans, a Defense Department spokesman has said.
The unsolicited Bibles sent by a church in the United States were confiscated about a year ago at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan because military rules forbid troops of any religion from proselytizing while deployed there, Lt. Col. Mark Wright told CNN.

Such religious outreach can endanger American troops and civilians in the devoutly Muslim nation, Wright said.

“The decision was made that it was a ‘force protection’ measure to throw them away, because, if they did get out, it could be perceived by Afghans that the U.S. government or the U.S. military was trying to convert Muslims,” Wright told CNN on Tuesday.

Troops at posts in war zones are required to burn their trash, Wright said.

Apparently our own administration ordered all bibles in Iraq and Iran destroyed. Mark Levin talked about it. I don't get it. I just don't. When did we become such cowards and afraid of idiots who NEED NO EXCUSE to kill the unarmed and un-muslim.

Also learned that BIBLES are forbidden in Saudi Arabia and are confiscated at the BORDERS there along with ANY overt religious symbols such as a necklace that is a cross. The Saudi government collects BIBLES in raids of Christain gatherings at homes and BURNS THEM! What the hell is going on here...should we threaten the Saudi's and cause mayhem or should we go about OUR BUSINESS and to HELL with what a bunch of creeps think who cannot even stand a cartoon of their child raping idol.

Never burn a book. ITs dangerous. Instead buy a Koran at Half Price Books and shread it page by page. Find someon who owns a bird and line their cage with it. That is the way to treat a Koran!

Be careful. You don't want to end up with a Parrot that recites passages from the koran.

Making Mormons and Muslims moral equivalents is ridiculous. The line is crossed when lying and murder is part of a religion to spread that religion. Islam crosses that line, Mormons do not.

Is book burning the answer?
Seems to me the biggest tragedy in history was the burning of the library in Alexandria.

Ever hear of “lying for the Lord” and Mountain Meadows Massacre. Mormons are guilty of both lying and murder to spread their religion.

BTW, I didn’t burn my Book of Mormon when I left Mormonism, I kept it to use against them.

I was making a religious statement, not a political or diplomatic statement.

Notice I suggested that they burn their own books. You are right that only one of the two religions now leads to bloodshed (but let’s not forget Mormon history). More importantly, however, is the spiritual result of both religion. Both religions oppose the One True and Living God.

They are moments of great joy when false religions are abandoned.

People have the right to burn books they own.

Only the Word of God will last forever.

Thank you for the link. Of course, the fact that he was arrested is no sign Jones shouldn’t go to Dearfield, Michigan. The Apostles got out of jail for preaching and often started preaching on the way out the jailhouse door.

The most devastating result for me is seeing the number of so called Christian Churches and Pastors who are giving Islam a valid place among religions. Calling Muslims brothers and sisters. I fear that the lack of conviction of these Churches and Pastors in the one true God is a telling condemnation of their false representation of the true Church.

You know yourself that burning books is not the answer.
That’s ignorant. And leads to much more ignorance.
