on this thread itself there is represented a couple of dozen pretty active Catholics that know quite a bit and read the Bible regularly.

A drop in the bucket in the real world.

I've had actively practicing Catholics warn me that I'd get into all kinds of trouble by following the Bible.

After hearing of an account of someone who died as the result of listening to a charlatan, his comment was, *See, that's where it'll get you for following the Bible*.

Yeah.

I’ve been told that by practicing RC’s as well.

Very soberly trying to warn me against reading the Bible on my own without an RC priest directing me etc. etc. etc.

What rubbish they will have to answer for before God Almighty about such horrific teachings regardless of what is written in the Catechism.

What the organization DOES speaks far louder than the Catechism.
