Is this where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir do all of their concerts that we see on tv?
I think it’s a sign that they should renounce the weirdnesses of their founder and become orthodox Christians. I think many Mormons actually want to be orthodox Christians but don’t know where to go.
Being an orthodox Christian doesn’t mean they have to abandon their cultural customs (like their nice Family Home Evening), but it does mean that they have to shake off some of the nutty accretions of 19th century “spiritualism” brought by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. Not to mention the beliefs about Indians arriving in cork submarines.
And yet people do not believe the story of a bomb being set off to burn/explode the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. All the windows in the building were shattered, but the glass covering the tilma (cloak) of St. Juan Diego with the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe did not break, nor was the image harmed in any way.
So unfortunate. When I attended school in Provo, we lived just a few blocks north of the tabernacle. Often, my wife and I would walk down and enjoy the grounds, we would attend stake conference there a number of times. This really is tragic, that was a beautiful building and a great piece of Utah history.
