They don't get to claim the bible was corrupt so they need new scripture and religion, then "retranslate" the bible to "correct" it, then back away from it when they realize they went too far and co-opt the true bible to justify it all.

Joseph Smith's "retranslation" of II John 7-11, Compare to post above:

7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him Godspeed;

11 For he that biddeth him Godspeed is partaker of his evil deeds.

I denied worshiping Smith when I was LDS, but after I left, I saw how much emphasis and praise was heaped upon Smith, even more than Christ.

What can I do? Be a reflection of who Christ is, to continue to preach the gospel of Christ as a Peacemaker....

Peace... peace... when there is no peace.

It appears that you do NOT care about the following verses...

2 Peter 2:1-3
 1.  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
 2.  Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
 3.  In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

2 John 1:10
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.

So basically Mormons believe Peter lost the keys to the Church...

It happens I guess...

Should have had a spare set...

The Mormon Jesus obviously has trouble hiring good help...

Glad the real one is a tick more competent...

We believe that Jesus has placed His authority in the Church by delegating the keys of the kingdom to His earthly servants — this was the same authority the Christ gave to Peter in the ancient Church.

We believe that his authority was restored by the Lord upon Joseph Smith and continues today.

...................................

1. Of course you “believe it”: but it isn’t based on anything except feelings.

2. Reaganaut knows more about mormonism than you do.

Well again....I don’t know what Mormom Doctrine teaches.....

And it appears your knowledge of the BIBLE is a bit shallow, too.

nobody is reading caucus threads who aren’t in the caucus. the word “Caucus” in the title screams out “stay away, this is for us”.

Not true at all. I often read caucus threads to see how they discuss things amongst themselves. And I know others on here who do as well.

Depending on your definition, he was martyred.

The Bible makes it perfectly clear that there is not gift of Biblical Apostles of Jesus Christ TODAY:

Revelation 2:2 I know they works, and they toil and patience, and that thou canst not bear evil men, and didst try them that call themselves apostles, and they are not, and didst find them false.

The PRESENT gifts TODAY are primarily Pastor/Teacher and Evangelist (of which I am called as an Evangelist).

Further evident in the books of Acts demonstrates beyond all facts that a true Apostle MUST have been PRESENT at the resurrection of the Lord Jesus:

Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all

Acts 5:2 and kept back [part] of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

Acts 5:12 And by the hands of the apostles were mahy signs and wonders wrought among the people; and they were all with one accord in Soloman's porch.

And further evidence is in the book of Galatians only Christianity is the true Gospel from the Apostle Paul; and any other gospel is a false gospel, which Paul warns correctly us to take heed and avoid:

Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

We do not ignore or hide the Joseph Smith translation, and one can purchase one with the changes in-line (replacing the King James text)

- - - - -
Not entirely accurate, Tadpole. The LDS footnotes with the JST only have a VERY SMALL PORTION of it, and selective choices as well.

There are many things in the JST that the LDS deny or ignore.

BTW, I have a full JST and a parallel (KJV/JST) to make it easy to find out what they use. I got it when I was still LDS.

Sir you just lied to me and those reading here.
The LDS KJV DOES NOT FOOTNOTE the JST

As expected, you just can't handle the truth.

Since I can't easily hand you my copy of the LDS published King James Bible (which I take with me to church every Sunday), here is a link to Matthew Chapter 1. If you have never been to the LDS scriptures website before, you should see footnote indicators (if you don't see footnotes, look for the link on the right that says "show footnotes").

Scroll on down to verse 16 and click in the word "who" indicated by footnote d. Up pops the Joseph Smith Translation, which says "as the prophets have written, who is called Christ."

Verse 18, footnote a is another JST note.

In Matthew Chapter 2 you can see a case where the JST is longer and is included in the appendix. See verse 4, footnote b.

In the printed version the footnotes are on the bottom of the page. For example, the first page of Matthew chapter 1 has the King James text in two columns, running through verse 18. Under that is a solid line, then three columns of footnotes. At the bottom of the middle column, last line, it says "d JST Matt. 1:4 . . . as the prophets" (etc).

Observers, this is the typical pattern in these threads. Any answer provided by the LDS is either ignored or claimed to be a lie. Even something as simple of what our printed Bible looks like. I have just been accused of lying when I have told the exact, complete truth.

SENTINEL, are you mature enough to apologize?

Oh, how I used to hate fast and testimony meetings. My job there as a bishopric concilor was to keep my thumb on the mic mute button in case anyone got off the standard sobbing "I know this church is true, I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God routine". An hour and twenty minutes of it, once a month will help brainwash even the most mentally valiant....I've been there.

Brings a tear to my eye to remember all the brainwashed little kids doing it, or how those who didn't feel like it were forced by being asked from the pulpit in front of everyone during any lull.

If you are only looking for religion, and something to boast your ego and make you feel good and you have no concern about Hell, then Mormonism is a good choice.

However, if you are looking for the TRUTH, a relationship with God and Christ, and to get to Heaven, Mormonism is the worst choice.

Too many people like the ‘feel good’ aspects of Mormonism and would rather wallow in that the know the truth.

Leaving Mormonism is hard, it was very hard for me at least, and painful, but it was SO worth it. The relationship I have with Christ is so much better than anything Mormonism ever offered.
