SK (Baptist) pastor arrested on child rape charges
Seattle Post-Intelligencer ^ | 2-18-11 | KAITLIN STROHSCHEIN

Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Dirk Jackson, a 32-year-old pastor, around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at his home in Port Orchard on two counts of second-degree child rape... Jackson is currently serving as the pastor of discipleship and evangelism for the First Baptist Church on Sidney Avenue, but the allegations stem from a previous job.

A typical day. I just got sick of the Calvinists posting every story they could find of miscreant priests, so I decided FR needed to see that sex abuse and criminality weren’t a result of celibacy or some weakness of Catholic theology. There are four times more Catholics than Baptists in America; the news media always highlights when its a Catholic priest; there are lawyers always gunning for diocesan funds, so we hear more about it.

In fact, the Catholic Church had reduced sexual abuse by 95% before the news media and lawyers got wind of the story. MOST of the cases we’ve heard about in recent years are about abuse that took place decades ago. The sad thing is that even after all the publicity the Catholic Church’s troubles have brought to the issue, the SBC still won’t revoke credentials for committing crimes and won’t track ministers who have moved on from congregation where they’ve caused scandal, so there’s STILL a sort of passive shuffling of ministers from congregation to congregation.

***So two wrongs do make a right ?***

NO! But one wrong makes for more publicity as long as it’s the church with the most money.

Lets put Pastor Jackson in the general prison population and see how he does.

The article says “there is no evidence that there were other victims”.
That would be because telling traumatizes children all over again and the most common pattern is to dissociate and deal with things later in life.

Rapists who prey on children have a vastly reduced chance of getting caught.

Thank you for being such a strong christian. It’s these petty destructive things that harm the kingdom and believers regardless of ideology. Do you actually think this help the rest of society when they see this type of in-fighting?

I will pray for you to seek wisdom and understanding as you humiliate the family of God to all.

Baptist churches don't move pastors caught child molesting. They report them to the authorities. Nobody would criticize the RCC if it immediately reported priests caught raping kids. But it didn't. The RCC for years covered up the practice and would frequently move priests from one parish to another without even telling the people in the new parish that their new priest molests kids.

Therefore, posting stories about Baptist pastors molesting kids does not show an equivalence, UNLESS you can show that Baptist churches covered it up and moved pastors around.

The hyper-Calvinists on FR are the closet thing we have to modern-day Pharisees.

This issue brings the STUPID out of FReepers.

This man is ACCUSED of something. He has ALLEGATIONS against him.

He has not been CONVICTED.

He may be guilty, or he may be the victim of a false accusation. Let's wait to demonize this man until the evidence has been evaluated in a court of law.

light-bulb, I suspect that you did not mean the above message to me. Or, perhaps you misunderstood what I was saying.

But, either way, please DO pray for me each day as you said you would. It makes a nice addition to my daily prayers to God in which I ask Him to show mercy on ALL of His people in the world.
