One of my very close friends took his life a few years ago. How many times on a sunny day, with birds soaring overhead and children laughing all around, I have screamed at his spirit: WHY? Why did you leave so many people who loved you? WHY did you cause so many others so much pain? Why did you not remember that all terrible things pass, and that the deeper sorrow carves into our being the more joy it can contain? WHY COULD YOU NOT HAVE WAITED FOR THE DAWN? Pain and heartbreak are REAL. Life is difficult. Good men go broke, lose friends, loved ones, feel all alone, get depressed, sometimes find solace where they shouldn’t. And then... It gets better. Every time. That’s what life is like for all of us. Hold fast through the storm and the darkness, keep slogging through, and WAIT FOR THE DAWN.
Please, if you have depression, get help for it. And please, please pray; God will pull you out of the abyss,if you let Him, I promise.
