Christlike Love
LDS.org ^ | 30 November 2010 | Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Posted on 04/12/2011 9:26:54 PM PDT by K-Ben-K

"Love is what inspired our Heavenly Father to create our spirits; it is what led our Savior to the Garden of Gethsemane to make Himself a ransom for our sins. Love is the grand motive of the plan of salvation; it is the source of happiness, the ever-renewing spring of healing, the precious fountain of hope. As we extend our hands and hearts toward others in Christlike love, something wonderful happens to us. Our own spirits become healed, more refined, and stronger. We become happier, more peaceful, and more receptive to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit."

I do believe that they will see Jesus and his love in me (that is) if I continually sow the seeds of the Spirit.

Had any luck yet?

Had any BITES yet?

Or even a NIBBLE yet?

I do not agree with his belief. I reject it 100%, and it cannot touch me.

Goody for you; but HE 'believes' it and is willing to sacrifice GREATLY to make sure the perverted message of MORMONism is advanced throughout the world; for it has been shown that MILLIONS will come to 'believe' it.

'LOVE' him all you want; but I am going to try to SHUT HIM UP by showing the REST of the Story.

I get that you do NOT like my methods. Fine; you go your way and I'll go mine.

Do you believe all Churches teach the same faith and requirements? Not in my experience. They vary greatly. Always wondered why, myself

I am not a passive Christian, nor will I keep my mouth shut just to save face.

Why not PRACTICE on me!!

Pretend I'm a MORMON - tell me loving that I am following the wrong path.

Convince me lovingly that I should change my religious affiliation.

“I am reaching out my hand to you in friendship and in the hope that whatever we disagree on, we can find the truth and peace between us.”

I’m happy to be friendly and peaceful with you, if you stop the hatred.

I can agree on much with you on conservative issues.

When it comes to truth - based entirely on your posts on this thread - your approach to God’s Word is flawed and leads you to faulty conclusions... but it’s a free country.

If you want peace, I suggest you stop the wholesale condemnation of others on this thread...

best,

...you'd realize that the Christian faith has advocated from the beginning to... CONTEND for the faith, ONCE delivered to the saints.

Stealing it for a tagline!

Love, patience, tolerance, kindness, humility, etc.

All we can do is plant the seed.

Ok; you've SHOWN this misguided MORMON all of these 'qualities'.

Now what SEED have you planted?

Some foolish 'christian' LIKEs him?

Hell!

A hundred Mormons back at the stake house do to!

“Actions speak louder than words and we know what actions we are to show all. Love, patience, tolerance, kindness, humility, etc.”

In this case (Mormonism), it wouldn’t hurt to turn over a few tables while you’re at it.

If you put yourself on the same level as Jesus...

Hmmm...how did I know you would go there? [I knew...which is why I included Apollos]

But, if you're advocating that we not be Christlike, hey, just come out & say so.

As for the apostle Paul, I didn't know you so strenously objected to these verses:
We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a MODEL for you to imitate. (2 Thess. 3:9)

Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. (Phil. 3:17)

There's other verses, too, where Paul advocates others to model his ministry (to Timothy, for example...and I'm sure the Corinthians as well)...but I'll let these suffice to show you that you that you don't know what you profess to be export Biblically speaking.

In fact, your next response just to these verses alone in response to your claim will show all of us what kind of humility you have...or fail to have. When you are corrected by Scripture, do you place your ego under it? Or do you fight on to be right when what you've just said was directly contradicted by Scripture?

All we can do is plant the seed. If we plant the seed of truth and the response is negative. Is it our fault? Of course not. Only God can open ones heart, all we can do is plant and water. All else is up to God. We plant and water with LOVE.

ALL we can do?

What about Jude? Jude said to "contend for the faith once delivered to the saints" (Jude 3) When you die & go to heaven, are you going to proceed to lecture Jude that he went beyond your "all you can do" philosophy?

What do you do with other verses...
...like 2 Cor. 10:5: 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
...like Titus 1:10-12: 10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”

Are you going to lecture Paul for being a poor example to the Church?

Actions speak louder than words and we know what actions we are to show all.

You wanna tell us when the Christian life became multiple choice:
(a) Speak/write words; or
(b) Engage in actions...

Sorry...but logically you've provided a false dichotomy -- as if we have to choose between the two.

My guess is that you've embraced a certain ministry philosophy that somebody's proclaimed. But that you didn't think it entirely through. (If that is the case, I encourage you to study the Bible more; and if you eventually come to realize you've been handed an incomplete paradigm, run it back up the line from where you heard it and give them feedback as to how incomplete it is)

One cannot simply pick single quotes from the Bible to support some insane belief (re many churches) I would love to sit down with you and show you how the entire Word of God fits together like an amazing tapestry. Very difficult to discern without seeing the whole picture.

Open your Heart, Soul and Mind and lean Not on your own understanding

Hum...

So if you use multiple quotes and we use your understanding as opposed to our own, without basis I might add, (for that is indeed what you are promoting) then we are golden.

I mean you did use the word mind, which I commend since the LDS leave the mind God gave us out of the equation, so at some point our own understanding does come into play. But it seems your understanding is better according to you and your words. So much so you want to teach many of us.

Oddly that position is supported even more by the fact that up thread you complained that you were not being responded to with Scripture despite the fact amny did indeed do so, which you either ignored or dismissed.

Where do you guys come from with this stuff.

Answer THAT question; don't give me some vacuous comment.

How dare anyone say that some tin-pot false teacher can tear that down.
I guess Paul was just STUPID to include ALL of the warnings about FALSE TEACHERS in his letters then.

You CAN’T be this foolish!

Wear the full Armour of God, Trust in him in everything. Lean not on our understanding. And bear always the fruits of the Spirit. God is LOVE.

Test the Spirits Always

What did you get out of reading Paul?

Please reread Psalm 23 .... Though I walk through the Valley of the shadow of Death.....

“This is weighing very heavy in me, as Christ said it would.”

I do not condemn you. Go in peace. Or stay in peace. Your call. We all answer to the same God.

“We can learn from each other through tolerance and patience.”

Yes, if you expressed some tolerance and patience toward me and toward others who disagree with you, I think it would go a long way toward peace.

Surely you did not expect to show up here, correct believers whose training and experiences stretch back decades, including training and thousands of hours of interaction with the cultists on FR, and then want to hold hands. I think you were unrealistic. Many of these believers used to be in the cult of mormonism and know it inside out. Many of us are seminary graduates or are versed in Greek and Hebrew.

best to you,
ampu

What did you get out of reading Paul?

For some reason, you just WILL not admit that PAul advocates challenging false teachers.

Why?

You always dance around it.

Got any false teachings in YOUR background?

“Why do people try to “out-nice” Jesus?”

Good question, Colo. Jesus wasn’t so squeamish as to not call it like it was. I don’t know where people ever got the idea that His meekness was a sign of weakness. Definitely was not the case.

The play nicey-nice has damned this country as a whole, and Christians’ rights are going right down the tubes with it. (Which was the cause of the train wreck to begin with: removing God.)

Before you know it, you will have Mormons supping with Muslims.

(Oh, no! Really?)

It’s far time Christians took back what is theirs.

I applaud each one of you who post here day after day because I wonder who all would fall into this pit without your information being put out for all to see. You do a great service and my hat is off to you. Personally, I get upset and don’t have the stomach for it because when I read some of the stuff - like the hymns to their leader - I want to hurl. I see people who’ve made it out trying to help others and they only get insulted for their efforts. They keep pointing to the truth and the Mormons keep saying, “You’re a bigot. I’ll tell me Ma when I get home!” I’m not one to easily anger, but this stuff makes my blood boil when I think of the innocent people its taken in over the years. Too, I could in no way be as helpful as someone who has been there and done that.

Warm Regards,

SC

Paul says also to run the race to Win. How much success have you had challenging false dictators with out first sowing the seeds of the Spirit.

In my experience, Paul nailed it when he said, that he became all things to all men in order to win over some. Going in with all guns blazing (most would accuse me of doing this on this thread) has never worked for me. I cannot make anyone listen to me, but the Holy Spirit can help me, help them want to.

Oh I have a truck load of false teachings in my back-ground. Been there done that.
