I think it is just a tool to annoy and impede Catholic content and theology.

How cute - A terrible two's tactic to get it's own way. Maybe a kiddie forum might suit you better until the control issues are unlearned.

Catholic Theology doesn't need our help. It will implode all on it's own.

Ezekial 33:1313When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

I guess that means that all those people who belong to religions which teach that you have to be good enough to get God's grace are all washed up after all.

AMAZING what one can learn if one opens his eyes.

REALLY? Let's see if that's true..

Luke 8:20 Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you."

Luke 8:21 He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's Word and obey It."

Luke 11:27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you."

Luke 11:28 He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey It."

What did you learn NL?

RIGHT ON, metmom!!! And they even post Scripture that points to it and they can't see it! LOL! They are clueless to what they read/post - and SO VOID of understanding Scripture and prove it daily here. They self destruct while they are totally unaware they are doing it. The RCC/catechism sure make fools out of it's followers.

When God looks at us, our iniquity overrides our righteousness, but that is to be expected, as our righteousness is as filthy rags in God’s sight anyway.

That’s why we need the righteousness of Christ, which is only granted through God’s mercy and forgiveness. Being forgiven is the ONLY way to have our sin not counted against us, and Christ’s righteousness imputed to us is the only way to have the righteousness God’s justice demands.

We are TOTALLY incapable of doing any work that can cancel the debt against us under those circumstances.

Imagine that! Saving that special privileged dispensation of EX-CATHEDRA infallibility for two dogmas and they are both UNSCRIPTURAL!!!

But look at the people who fall for it...Are they under a spell or something???

That is the beauty of it and why it is also the language of law and science. Because Latin is dead it no longer changes and evolves. Unlike English, Greek, and even now Hebrew, its meanings are fixed permanently in time. Whoo hoo.

FAIL...Regardless of the fixed meaning of the Latin, it only does you some good if Latin is your normal language...

If your English or German language keeps changing, then the definition of the Latin words change...

Back when I was in school, taking a couple of years of Latin, the instructor told us reading and writing Latin was ok, even though the sentence structure was ridiculous, but no one speaks Latin because it's about an impossible Language to speak...

While people in the Catholic religion write, read and sing Latin, I'll bet you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who actually converses in Latin...

And exactly what would be the need for an EX-CATHEDRA infallibility declaration for something that IS Scriptural? If it were already Scriptural, it wouldn't need to be authenticated in any other way. It would stand on its own.

EXACTLY!

One would need to squash their pride to admit 'totally incapable' and that's repulsive to 'the pious/the religious crowd' because the church says...., the church says.....pope pious says....etc.

God's Word is THE FINAL AUTHORITY. Believe it or weep!

"FAIL...Regardless of the fixed meaning of the Latin, it only does you some good if Latin is your normal language..."

Is that your learned opinion? You better get that out to all of the medical, science and law schools in the world. What in the heck were all of those idiots thinking?

"Catholic Theology doesn't need our help"

No, but you apparently need some.

In nomine sanctae Dymphna exaudi nos Deus salutaris noster, ut Sanctam Dymphna cultor afflictos et motus animi aegritudine. Adjuva nos agi exémplo et consolari auxílium misericórdiæ ejus. Amen.

In the name of St. Dymphna, hear us, O God, Our Saviour, as we honor St. Dymphna, patron of those afflicted with mental and emotional illness. Help us to be inspired by her example and comforted by her merciful help. Amen.

Western Latin and Anglo Saxon based languages generally do not.

Have any ideas why this might be so??

(It's ALL Greek to me!)

Thank you for the excellent post on Swedenborg. I had not heard of him, but there are a million of his kind roaming history and our present day.

But we sure do give up a lot of knowledge if we throw out the unwritten Word of God.

Along with a lot of trash.

Golly!

Who makes the decision?

WHY do they?

Do they REALLY have the AUTHORITY to do so?

Why isn't 'tradition' give the AUTHORITY of Scripture?

An awful lot of people on this thread give a lot of weight to what James wrote...

James 1:27

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

He became a saint by the words of Jesus. Who are you to question that?

;^)

Today you will be with me in paradise.

I see now; perfectly clear.

Catholics believe that when Jesus founded His Church he endowed it with the ability and the mission to compile canon, preserve, defend, and teach the Revealed Word. God, in former times, clothed his Apostles with power far more exalted.

And we are castigating others for no sources?

If the hearer can infallibly interpret, then he can infallibly interpret Scripture and doesn’t need someone to infallibly interpret for him.

NIV 1 Corinthians 4:6
Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written."
Then you will not take pride in one man over against another.

NIV 2 Corinthians 1:13-14
13. For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand. And I hope that,
14. as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.
