A Christian ministry's decision to expose as "false teachers" several celebrity ministers it believes are corrupting biblical teachings has prompted a rift, with Jack Van Impe Ministries dropping plans to work in the future with Trinity Broadcasting Network, where it has broadcast for more than two decades.
"I Will Not Be Silenced! I will not allow anyone to tell me what I can and cannot preach," Van Impe said in a statement when TBN would not allow his program to air.
"When I see heretical teaching leading to apostasy, I will speak out," he said. "The Bible says 'All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:' (II Timothy 3:16). The Apostle Paul also gives instructions in Titus 1:9-11, 13 'Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers … Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake…Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith.'"

Yeah, I know that TBN broadcasts many more hours of authentic Christian programming than it does it's own studio productions, and I am glad to see the Gospel of Christ being disseminated around the globe. But IMH and probably biased opinion, some of that good work is spoiled by the Crouches' studio programs that to my mind more closely resemble something you might see at a traveling carnival sideshow than at a true Christian worship and praise event.
And to top it all off, the TBN satellite network has apparently decided to refuse evangelical Christian programs that contain any negative comments regarding pagan religions and/or the apostate Christianity that is currently in vogue with many pastors and bible teachers who are often associated in some way with denominations and organizations that were once recognized as biblically correct Christian churches and/or denominations. I'm neither Hal Lindsey's nor Van Empe's most ardent admirer. However, I tend to believe that at least a part of their interpretation of prophetic scripture is right on target as I see what I believe to be bible prophecy being fulfilled in quite a few current events and activities taking place in the US, Israel, Europe, Islam, the apostate Church, and the world in general to some extent.

Exactly! TBN has always been of an Ecumenical bent. While I have a few issues with Van Empe and Lindsey... they are mostly minor doctrinal issues. Some of the other stuff I’ve seen on TBN is pure garbage. Geared more to fundraisng than soul-saving.
While VanImpe is not everyone’s cup of tea, I’m glad he is standing for what he believes in.

True, Bible-believing Christians will be coming under fire more and more, and true Christianity will become less and less tolerated as we get nearer to the return of Christ for the Church. True Christianity must be snuffed out in this world for the Antichrist to take power and be worshiped like Christ tells us he will be.
TBN is just a cog in the wheel of the ongoing stage-setting and fulfillment of Bible prophecy leading up to the appearance of the Antichrist and the seven-year Tribulation.
None of this is the least bit surprising.
Sums up my feelings as well. Similar to the lack of true conservative television, there is a sore need for sound Christian media. The Harold Camping false prophecy fiasco, complete with billboards, proves my point.

In terms of theology, the only “common ground” I want to have with Muslims is at the foot of the Cross.

Though, I am not a huge fan of his, I am very happy to see Van Impe stand up for the Truth! I remember when Hal Lindsey parted ways with TBN over Islam as well.
The only thing I really enjoyed on that station were the Christian movies they played on the weekends. I quite enjoyed those—even if some of them were kinda hokey. :^)

Those references identify Jesus as the Son of God.
Other developments include moves by some Christian churches to remove clear Christian emblems such as crosses.
He said what churches need today is that “old time religion” and less “self-esteem psycho-babble.”
Criticized on the program were recommendations attributed to Warren that churches change music to a contemporary rock style, eliminate hymnbooks and the choir, eliminate the Sunday evening or Wednesday prayer services, remove the word “church” and refer to it as a “campus,” and reduce the use of the words “unsaved,” “lost,” “hell” and “heaven.”

I echo your general sentiment. Vam Impe is learned and knows the Scriptures. One can always question future prophecy and current event interpretation and have varying degrees of agreement.
On this particular subject, I am glad Van Impe is sticking to his guns.
However, TV Evangelicals make me roll my eyes especially with all their products they're hawking. As big of a left winger as he may have been, an ex-roommate of mine was a Christians (he was a pro life, bleedy heart) once said to me of such ministers, “Some people pimp other people. Some people pimp faith.” Somebody might have said it first, but I only ever heard him say it.
VanImpe amazes me with his encyclopedic memory of scriptures.
His wife is worth the view alone. What a train wreck!

Well....yes, but I believe all seven Spirits of God are present in the world right now.
“..in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man....”. Rev. 1:13
“..the seven candlesticks are the seven churches.” Rev. 1:20
“..seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God”. 4:5
“..seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.” 5:6
The messages to the ‘seven churches’ are written in an order that MIGHT appear to mirror the condition of the church as a whole through the centuries. But the Word simply indicates that the ‘lamps’ (’candlesticks’, ‘eyes’) are all burning at the same time.
I believe you could find any one of the seven Spirits of God somewhere on this earth right now. For instance: I think that ‘Smyrna’ could not only be the Spirit found in reach of Nero’s Rome, but also today where Christians are ‘underground’ in areas controlled by Islamic extremists.
I would have to say that ‘Laodicea’ seems very dominant in ‘western’ civilizations today. Very sad. But all seven have the requirement to ‘overcometh’. So the test of faithfulness is different, but requires overcoming tests/trials/temptations.
A significant note: In each letter to each church, in the end the call to repent and overcome is to the individual.
This implies that there is no “overcoming” church (corporate or group expression), but, there will indeed be individuals “who have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying...”
Thus, this seems to indicate the end of the church age, per se. Indeed the true church is eternal. It being the expression of God’s heart and will on earth is temporal.
And clearly today, it no longer represents God’s heart, character, will, or power and presence - as it did in the early centuries.....
Agreed! I worked for nearly two years in a TV evangelical organization (never to be named) while a student at a Christian university. The amount of money it takes to be on TV is ridiculous. No, not ridiculous, sinfully wasteful. One could take that money and build churches or hospitals anywhere in the world and get a bigger bang for the bucks.
TV evangelists are like most TV personalities - eager to continue to feed their huge egos. Have yet to hear or see one that wasn’t in it for their ego.
And if you do not believe, put your hand on the back of your TV and you will receive a blessing as soon as you send us your monthly food allowance.
