I am a humble follower of Jesus Christ. The Word. The Creator of Heaven and earth. The Babe, born to the Virgin, Mary, over 2000 years ago. I have faith in him as the Son of God. I believe he is the only begotten of the Father, and was sent to mankind to live as a man and to show us the path back to our Father in Heaven. I believe he suffered for our sins, paying the ultimate price, and, by His Grace, we can be saved. I believe that all men sin and fall short of the glory of God, and it is through Jesus, and none other that we can partake of the glories of His Heaven. I am not perfect but I am a humble Christian, and that is enough.

I suppose in the eyes of the worlds religions that would make me a Christian, but in the eyes of some of my more dogmatic brethren, I am a heretic and only worthy of scorn, because I believe that Jesus Christ has visited man in these days and continues to guide and direct his affairs in the modern era. I believe that I can converse with God as can all of us. We are all children of God, according to the bible. I believe that God loves each and every one who reads this message, and, no matter what your system of belief is, you are loved and treasured by your Father.

I also believe we can all work together to overcome the evil in this world. PLEASE, can we all stop the bickering and fighting, and commence to work together for all of God's children.

I believe in Jesus Christ, I have accepted him as my Savior .... and I'm a Mormon. (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)

” humble follower of Jesus Christ. (vanity)”

Irony is pretty much lost on you, isn’t it??

I’m reading the rest of it now, but regarding the first line, the word “humble” should never be used by a person unless to describe someone other than themself.

Just to be clear here, I hate Mormonism but consider mormons its biggest victims, not the object of my hate, which is the belief system itself.

That said, the remarks you made prior to that statement do line up with Christian belief to a point. That point is that some of the wording is vague enough to have meanings that are definitely NOT Christian. IOW, I’d need more detail about what you mean.

And the Devil is in the details. Literally.

I believe in a Jesus Christ who IS the path back to the Father:

"Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." --John 14:6

Well that’s great. I think it’s wonderful that you profess your Christianity....

But this is “News/Activism” how?

—no matter what your system of belief is, you are loved and treasured by your Father. —

I agree with that. I’ll even add to it. If one actually accepts the blood of Jesus as savior for the remission of their sins and confesses Him as Lord of their life, they will enjoy an eternity in heaven with their Creator. Without His love and sacrifice, that offer would not be made. And we all get to make that choice personally.

I’d disagree with you on that one. Unless you can convince me the second coming happened and I missed it.

The Bible teaches that there is only one God in all existence. Therefore, there can be no other god or goddess as Mormonism teaches.

Isaiah 44:6: "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God."

Isaiah 44:8 "Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any."

Isaiah 43:10 "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me."

Frankly, I could give a rat’s behind what your religious beliefs are; I come to FR to read about POLITICAL news, NOT anyone’s religious views. Over the years, this constant barrage of religious postings are becoming more and more frustrating, and to those who scream, “Then why click on the post????” I answer; because scrolling through the news feed, I am accosted by so many of these threads, today seems to be my breaking point where I no longer care if I hurt your feelings by posting my thoughts!
Can’t those of you who feel the need to constantly (and oh so ‘humbly’)fight amongst yourselves over your religious views do it somewhere else? I come here less and less because of this annoyance, and I am sure I am not alone!

If you are nicely going down the wrong road that has no more a bridge to cross to the other side. It would not be polite for me not to tell you but that there is another only way.

One God! True God to true God only! Seek and you will find!

John3:

3:16 For God so loved the world, as to give his Only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.

3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world, to judge the world: but that the world may be saved by him.

3:18 He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

1 John 4

4:1 Dearly beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits if they be of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 4:2 By this is the spirit of God known. Every spirit which confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 4:3 And every spirit that dissolveth Jesus is not of God. And this is Antichrist, of whom you have heard that he cometh: and he is now already in the world.

I have faith in him as the Son of God.

Consubstantialis Patri? (Consubstantial with the Father?) That is a rather important point.

but in the eyes of some of my more dogmatic brethren

The LDS church doesn't have dogma? There's nothing wrong with dogma; I don't know why so many believers go along with the secular world's successful efforts to make it a perjorative word. I don't see the point of confessing a religion if there is no dogma. Otherwise you end up with the Church Of Nice Socialism.

I am a heretic

You're only a heretic if you were baptized in or professed belief in one of the traditional branches of Christianity and then rejected those beliefs. So if you grew up LDS you don't qualify. :-)

Strictly speaking, you're more likely to termed a "pagan" (if that makes you feel any better :-)) since most Christian religions do not recognize LDS baptism as valid since it is not done according to the Trinitarian formula.

As a Mormon, you should know they teach that God the Father is a man and impregnated the virgin Mary.

You should know that they consider the Bible corrupt and untrustworthy and that the book of Mormon as the only trustworthy scriptures.

You should know that Mormon doctrine teaches that Jesus died only for the sins of Adam ("Original Sin") and for the rest he only shows the "Way of Salvation". You should know that Mormon doctrine is that in order to be saved you must believe upon Joseph Smith and Jesus. Not upon the Lord Jesus Christ alone.

Women should know that they will be Eternally Pregnant under Mormon doctrine and that their husbands have to call them to heaven or they will not be saved.

Just so you will know the Gospel is different; here is a quote from the Mormon "Journal of Discourses":

"Now, we will take the case of an individual who has broken all the laws of God and perhaps all the laws of man, and finally has shed the blood of a fellow-creature, and is condemned by the laws of man to die... A minister will come a preach to him, and tell him that all he has to do is to cast his soul on Jesus; that he has just to believe that Christ died for him ..so that he will have the fruits of righteousness and peace. ...the man [the criminal] believes this, he confesses Christ with his lips and acknowledges him with his tongue, and straightway is strung up between the heavens and the earth, and choked to death; his spirit is forced out of his body, and ushered into the presence of the eternal Father to stand before his spotless throne, and is deemed fit to dwell in the society of the pure and holy ones on high. That is according to the modern Gospel [the Bible], but not according to the ancient Gospel of Jesus Christ [Mormonism]..." LDS Prophet and President Charles W. Penrose, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 21, p. 84, 1880.

It may be better for everyone if we define our salvation as something between us and God and not what others think. It is usually best to not even give the self-proclaimed judges of who is or isn’t a Christian a second thought. It usually reflects more of themselves as it does who you are.

I post this ONLY for 1 reason....We MUST stop this sniping and fighting and realize we have far more in common that what separates us and we MUST work together to accomplish what we ALL want to do....and if you are saying, “I will never vote for so-and-so because I don’t believe in their religious doctrines,” means we will lose in 2012. Lets pull together.

I have just one question. Is Jesus the one true and only God who created the world or is He a brother of Lucifer? It makes a difference on who your Jesus is.

Define the following first

Jesus Christ - his Person, nature and work

The Word - in what way

Creator of Heaven and earth

His Grace, we can be saved (in view of mormon articles of faith)

Further clarification includes -

Are “Christians” polytheistic

Does God guide men in these latter days via false prophetical spokesmen

What specifically is salvation in mormonism?

Was God a man who evolved to godhood.

Did this man sin

We anxiously await these key clarifications
