OMAHA, Neb. -- The Catholic church said something that should be a symbol of love has been adopted and abused by gang influences.
A sixth-grade girl said she was told that she can't wear a necklace that resembles a rosary because it violates the dress code at the Fremont Public Schools.
Elizabeth Carey, 12, said the school adopted a policy last year banning the necklaces.
"The principal said I couldn't wear my necklace at all because gangsters were wearing it," she said.

This kid does not look like a gang member to me, I call bull on what the principal is saying.
Rosaries are not fashion accessories.
Almost all of the schools around here have no necklace, no hats, no writing or graphics on shirts policies because of gangs. It’s not discriminatory if it applies equally to everyone.
“”I’m wearing a cross necklace, a cross T-shirt and a cross bracelet,” she said. “I’m thinking of how Jesus died on the cross and how he gave up all his sins for us.””
Sweetheart, Christ was sinless. He had NO sins. He did not “[give] up all his sins for us”.
I’m finding her theology to be a bigger problem than whether or not she wears a rosary in a public school.
A rosary is not a necklace. It is not jewelry.
A rosary is not jewelry. To wear it as such is disrespectful. Just MHO.
Yeah. But wearing a burka or dressing up like a Juggulo is just fine.
To North Americans it is disrespect to wear the Rosary but many Latin Americans wear their Rosary as a sign of respect. I can only guess they want it close to their persons at all times. It is a culture things. I will not say this is right or wrong. I do not think their culture means disrespect. They go to Mass and take their Catholic faith just as serious as we do. So they wear their Rosary close to their Heart? Thanks be to God.
My point is if this girl had been Muslima and she was wearing a hijab there would be no discussion. So what if gangs are wearing the Rosary in blasphemy towards God? What about Muslims who blow them selves up daily, yet they can wear clothing of their faith? I cry foul on this one.

Exactly.
OMW! She really said that? What an idiot. I wonder if she is even Christian.

I am sure they mean no disrect, but they need to be straightened out on this issue.

Idiot logic... I would assume that gangsters are wearing clothing also. So does that mean we should give up wearing clothes?
It would appear that certain persons in Omaha, NE, lack common sense. Isn’t this a stronghold of Ben Nelson? Is anyone running against Ben in 2012?
It’s an example of “one size fits all” in “education,” and it appears the child could use a little theological bearing as well.
That's funny, when I made my Confirmation, the Bishop place a rosary around my neck and ask me to wear it as a sign of my faith. Go figure!
They eat potatoes too. So...I guess that means no more potatoes in the prison ( 0ops! “school” ) cafeteria.
There is no possible way for the government to resolve this in a religiously neutral manner. No matter what it does it will be a First Amendment and freedom of conscience abomination.
Solution: Begin the process of closing down all government education. Begin the process of privatizing all education. What's needed is complete separation of school and state.
The issue is not that gangs are wearing the Rosary in blasphemy towards God.
All gangs have enemies and alliances: other gangs they fight or cooperate with. (Ultimately the issue is control of territory where they can sell drugs and make a profit; the larger the territory, the richer the gang.)
For the last several decades, nearly all U.S. gangs have been part of one of two alliances, the People and the Folks. Each gang has its own identifying symbols, also using symbols which identify whether the gang belongs to the People or the Folks.
These gang symbols, tattoos, graffiti, hand signs, etc., make it easier to tell friend from foe, and friendly space from dangerous space. But many a user of deaf sign language has been attacked or killed because a gang member didn't recognize the hand movements and assumed the deaf person was a member of a rival gang.
Some gang symbols are commonly used by non-gang members; these include dice, the Playboy bunny, crowns, certain professional sports teams' insignia (generally because the name is similar to the gang's name, or the colors are those used by the gang), 5-pointed stars, stars of David, and crosses.
Schools frequently prohibit the wearing of many of these items and symbols, in hopes of preventing violence. To a member of a rival gang, this girl who wears crosses is clearly a member of an enemy gang. And if they shoot her and it turns out she wasn't a member of a rival gang ... well, no loss, because after all, she was advertising for the enemy gang.

Good point! Some schools now have uniforms for this reason.
IMHO, it's not a question of whether or not the media will do anything the fascists want them to but rather a question of just how deeply they've infiltrated those sources for information that are not traditionally part of the fascist media. From the look of it on at least a superficial level, a whole lot of sites have more than a few fifth columnists who work toward the Obama fascist agenda in ways that aren't always obvious.
