And by what authority does the clergy dictate to the people their posture in prayer?

The same authority by which the Church instructed believers to "abstain from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled" (Acts 15:29).

Sorry, I am not buying that. Dictating posture for prayer?

It's not that as much as it is that this gladhanding takes place AFTER the Consecration. It is very disrespectful to be chatting, shaking hands, and laughing at this point in the Mass. If we are there to worship the Lord, why are we spending so much time focusing on each other??

I think everybody saw it on The Walton’s and thought, “hey, that’s kinda neat.” It all rolled downhill from there.
