Bigotry among Republicans Poised to guarantee a ZOT for me!
Poll Position ^ | 01-04-12 | Poll Position

Trolling a bit admittedly, but it appears that even if Romney secures the nomination, he is destined to lose due to good, old-fashioned religious bigotry.

A little stomping this time around is all that is necessary for this on.

The list of reasons to vote against Romney has a couple hundred items on it before it gets down to anything personal, like his religion.

You may call it bigotry. Here's the question: Is there any set of religious beliefs that, if adopted devoutly by a religious candidate, you personally would deem cause to deny him or her your vote without you being a bigot? In the galaxy of religious thought, are there stars that would disqualify a candidate in your personal view?

There is a parade of horribles. What if the candidate was a believing member of the whites-only Creativity Movement (World Church of the Creator), or practiced magic as an earnest follower of Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth, or was a follower and a professor in The Grey School of Wizardry of the Robert-A.-Heinlein’s-science-fiction-worshipping Church of All Worlds, or simply held a billion-year contract as a believing SeaOrg member of the Church of Scientology?

You may say “that’s ridiculous; I’m talking about whether it’s appropriate not to vote for a candidate because of a normal religion with normal religious views.” Isn't determining what is 'normal' and acceptable a personal decision that can be made without it being called bigotry?

Milt Rominy’s religious beliefs are quite relevant this election cycle because of what fuel they will give to the media to expose the weirdness of Milt. That is one reason to let his religious persuasion add to the negatives list.

Dear Moronic Troll—

If Romney wins the nomination, and the media is suddenly absolutely obsessed with the weirder aspects of Mormonism and are asking Mitt detailed questions about doctrines no LDSer has cared about in 100 years, will you call it bigotry or will you call it good journalism?

I think I already know the answer. Now get thee to a burn ward.

Get bent,
Mr. S.

You've been here since 1998. You've seen all the bigotted comments about Mormons, their beliefs, their "magic underwear", and the rest. Still you want to say you don't think there is massive anti-mormon bigotry here? Guess they call you Snuffies "jarheads" for a reason.

So, you really believe that if Mitt and Rick Perry or Rick Santorum changed religious views everyone at FR would suddenly find Mitt acceptable? Unless you're alleging that, Always' point is 100% valid.

Oh, and this Air Force wingnut would like to respond to your disparaging comments about the USMC by saying go take a long walk off a short pier, jackass. Semper Fidelis!

Agree 100%. Watch for lots of media reporting on the Jeffs cult. If Big Love hadn’t already finished its run, it would be cancelled, etc., etc. Look for Law & Order and the CSIs to revisit fundamentalist whacko Mormonism or Mormon polygamy early in the fall season.

Yes, there are people who believe that if all the talk of “Mormon” goes away that Mittster would be acceptable.
They forget that Mittster is ideologically the exact same as Obama.
His record proves it.
Mitt cannot and will never beat Obama because there is no difference between thetwo.
Ask yourself, “Why is the MSM not going after Mitt the way they went after Newt, Bachmann, Cain, and Palin?”
Answer: It is because the media WANTS Mitt to be the Republican nominee because he will not ever be able to beat Obama.
And if he were the nominee, guaranteed the media would go tooth an nail after his beliefs, and his record of flip flopping.
On top of that, the media would try to paint his mormon beliefs off as common held REPUBLICAN beliefs.

Hinckley, I think you need to apologize to AAM.
As well as take an honest look at what is going on.

Any mormon I see on any ballot for any office will get my immediate vote for the opponent. I wear enough scars and paid enough pain to purchase that right.

Amen and praise God you are out. There are several ex-mormons here on FR. Welcome aboard!

Then perhaps he should LEAVE the CULT that he is mired in!
