Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Book Of Genesis
Chapter 32

Jacob's Fear of Esau

1. Now as Jacob went on his way, the angels of God met him.
2. Jacob said when he saw them, "This is God's [a]camp." So he named that place [b]Mahanaim.

3. Then Jacob sent messengers before him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
4. He also commanded them saying, "Thus you shall say to my lord Esau: 'Thus says your servant Jacob, "I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now;
5. I have oxen and donkeys and flocks and male and female servants; and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight."'"

6. The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brother Esau, and furthermore he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him."
7. Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks and the herds and the camels, into two companies;
8. for he said, "If Esau comes to the one company and attacks it, then the company which is left will escape."
9. Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O LORD, who said to me, 'Return to your country and to your relatives, and I will prosper you,'
10. I am unworthy of all the lovingkindness and of all the faithfulness which You have shown to Your servant; for with my staff only I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two companies.
11. "Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children.
12. "For You said, "I will surely prosper you and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which is too great to be numbered.'"
13. So he spent the night there. Then he selected from what he had with him a present for his brother Esau:
14. two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,
15. thirty milking camels and their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten male donkeys.
16. He delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by itself, and said to his servants, "Pass on before me, and put a space between droves."
17. He commanded the one in front, saying, "When my brother Esau meets you and asks you, saying, 'To whom do you belong, and where are you going, and to whom do these animals in front of you belong?'
18. then you shall say, 'These belong to your servant Jacob; it is a present sent to my lord Esau. And behold, he also is behind us.'"
19. Then he commanded also the second and the third, and all those who followed the droves, saying, "After this manner you shall speak to Esau when you find him;
20. and you shall say, 'Behold, your servant Jacob also is behind us.'" For he said, "I will appease him with the present that goes before me. Then afterward I will see his face; perhaps he will accept me."
21. So the present passed on before him, while he himself spent that night in the camp.

22. Now he arose that same night and took his two wives and his two maids and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.
23. He took them and sent them across the stream. And he sent across whatever he had.

Jacob Wrestles

24. Then Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak.
25.When he saw that he had not prevailed against him, he touched the socket of his thigh; so the socket of Jacob's thigh was dislocated while he wrestled with him.
26. Then he said, "Let me go, for the dawn is breaking."
But he said, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."
27. So he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob."

28. He said, "Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but [c]Israel; for you have striven with God and with men and have prevailed."

29. Then Jacob asked him and said, "Please tell me your name." But he said, "Why is it that you ask my name?" And he blessed him there.
30. So Jacob named the place [d]Peniel, for he said, "I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been preserved."

31. Now the sun rose upon him just as he crossed over Penuel, and he was limping on his thigh.
32. Therefore, to this day the sons of Israel do not eat the sinew of the hip which is on the socket of the thigh, because he touched the socket of Jacob's thigh in the sinew of the hip.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed, How Holy,
How Sanctified and Glorious is Your Most Wonderful Name
Your Wisdom and Your Ways Are So Beyond Ours,
Your Justice and Your Righteousness and Your Holiness,
So Infinite and Beyond Our Poor Understanding,
Leaves us breathless!

4. He also commanded them saying, "Thus you shall say to my lord Esau: 'Thus says your servant Jacob, "I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed until now;
5. I have oxen and donkeys and flocks and male and female servants; and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight."'"
6. The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brother Esau, and furthermore he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him."
7. Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks and the herds and the camels, into two companies;

Father, Each of us has to come to a Day of Reckoning.
Even when we know we are called of You,
It does not give us license to tread all over others to claw our way to the top.
This has been a time of Jacob making things right,
First with his Father-in-Law,
and now with his Twin Brother Esau.
Forgive Us Our Sins, As We Forgive Those Who Have Sinned Against Us.
Jacob makes restitution in the traditional Middle Eastern manner,
with a gift of livestock, a very GENEROUS Gift, indeed.
But Jacob, at this stage in his life,
is still a "trickster",
and the gift could also be looked at as a "bribe".
Jacob needs a LIFE-CHANGING experience.

Abba, Father,
Teach us, like You Did Jacob,
to turn to You in Our Distress,
And not to lean unto our own understanding!
Deliver Jacob,
And the women and children,
from the fury of his brother Esau.
We Pray This According to Your Will and Promise.
For Your lovingkindness is from everlasting to everlasting,
And Your promises are Forever.

24. Then Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak.
25.When he saw that he had not prevailed against him, he touched the socket of his thigh; so the socket of Jacob's thigh was dislocated while he wrestled with him.
26. Then he said, "Let me go, for the dawn is breaking." But he said, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

Dear Father,Three Millennia later, we Pray.
We will not let go until You Bless Jacob,
The Children of Israel.

Oh How we Long to see Your Face, Dear LORD!
And how we Wrestle with Your Word,
And Struggle with You,
When You Call Us to Rest in You and Trust in You.
Create in us a New, Clean Heart,
And change us from schemers and appeasers into True People of God.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
For Israel,
and For The Jewish People.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

What if the very nature of my life is to wrestle with God ? What if the location of my sacredness is my walk, that my limp (we all have limps, right ?), that my limp was a message of God with us ? (http://thecorner.typepad.com/bc/2009/05/page/2/)

Without ceasing! Good job, keep it up Etabeta. Any TRUE Christian should always be concerned about, Love and support the State of Israel and it’s people at all times and especially the urgent request to continually pray for the peace of Jerusalem, probably to help lessen the “Cup of trembling”? in these last days (hours?)
I am so concerned for them I wish I could go over and help in some way. I worked with the I.D.F. once. They are an incredibly warm, gracious and honest people and they (used to anyway) Love us Americans. By the way, I know you don’t know me, but I’ll start praying for Yorkie’s healing... please keep ME in your prayers as well as I am having major foot surgery in two weeks. Thank you etabeta... and you know when we non-Jewish Christians voice our support for Israel it REALLY does touch them and give them comfort to know they are not alone in the world and there are still millions of people who love and respect them, contrary to the “popular” consensus.

I wrote to etabeta but meant it for You too 2sheds! Way to go...we all need to start fasting and praying hard. Things are going to get real crazy here in the world at any moment, and Israel and The USA desperately need prayers, especially from the “righteous” (of which I wish I was one), so our prayers would “availeth much”... but if a righteous man or woman’s prayers availeth much, that means even prayers from a lowly sinner like me will help..and no prayer goes unheard by God. I pray not only for the Peace of Jerusalem, Israel, you, etabeta, left the other side & Yorkie, & all the rest of you, but my own miserable self as well...it’s all taken into account. “Let all things that have breath Praise the Lord!” Marantha!

The battle is still raging and the most powerful weapon will be used until ordered to cease.

Psalm 94

God the Avenger of the Righteous

1 O Lord, you God of vengeance,
you God of vengeance, shine forth!
2 Rise up, O judge of the earth;
give to the proud what they deserve!
3 O Lord, how long shall the wicked,
how long shall the wicked exult?

4 They pour out their arrogant words;
all the evildoers boast.
5 They crush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
6 They kill the widow and the stranger,
they murder the orphan,
7 and they say, ‘The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.’

8 Understand, O dullest of the people;
fools, when will you be wise?
9 He who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10 He who disciplines the nations,
he who teaches knowledge to humankind,
does he not chastise?
11 The Lord knows our thoughts,*
that they are but an empty breath.

12 Happy are those whom you discipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13 giving them respite from days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not forsake his people;
he will not abandon his heritage;
15 for justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
18 When I thought, ‘My foot is slipping’,
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who contrive mischief by statute?
21 They band together against the life of the righteous,
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He will repay them for their iniquity
and wipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Heavenly Father may you continue to bring an overwhelming, crushing defeat on the forces of darkness in our nation, may you smash every crooked deed as they try to hold onto power and may this be so convincing that everyone knows that your hand is in this. Then we may bring the light of your Gospel to the nations as you did this time in history:

http://jn1838.blogspot.com/2010/02/battle-of-lepanto-battle-that-saved.html

May you block and undo every policy and piece of legislation they have passed that is harmful to this nation. May you make every policy they make fail and may you turn the hearts of the multitudes against them. May you thwart every evil deed they try to divide this nation. May you bring their own mischief upon them ten fold. This day we shatter the clay jar of Jeremiah 19 in their faces. May you punish those in our government who are lawless traitors and also enemies of Israel by exposing them and deliver them into our hands for justice

And this we humbly ask in Jesus name.

Psalm 37

Exhortation to Patience and Trust
Of David.

1 Do not fret because of the wicked;
do not be envious of wrongdoers,
2 for they will soon fade like the grass,
and wither like the green herb.

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
6 He will make your vindication shine like the light,
and the justice of your cause like the noonday.

7 Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way,
over those who carry out evil devices.

8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath.
Do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For the wicked shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.

10 Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look diligently for their place, they will not be there.
11 But the meek shall inherit the land,
and delight in abundant prosperity.

12 The wicked plot against the righteous,
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he sees that their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows
to bring down the poor and needy,
to kill those who walk uprightly;
15 their sword shall enter their own heart,
and their bows shall be broken.

16 Better is a little that the righteous person has
than the abundance of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous.

18 The Lord knows the days of the blameless,
and their heritage will abide for ever;
19 they are not put to shame in evil times,
in the days of famine they have abundance.

20 But the wicked perish,
and the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures;
they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.

21 The wicked borrow, and do not pay back,
but the righteous are generous and keep giving;
22 for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land,
but those cursed by him shall be cut off.

23 Our steps* are made firm by the Lord,
when he delights in our* way;
24 though we stumble,* we* shall not fall headlong,
for the Lord holds us* by the hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old,
yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.
26 They are ever giving liberally and lending,
and their children become a blessing.

27 Depart from evil, and do good;
so you shall abide for ever.
28 For the Lord loves justice;
he will not forsake his faithful ones.

The righteous shall be kept safe for ever,
but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land,
and live in it for ever.

30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,
and their tongues speak justice.
31 The law of their God is in their hearts;
their steps do not slip.

32 The wicked watch for the righteous,
and seek to kill them.
33 The Lord will not abandon them to their power,
or let them be condemned when they are brought to trial.

34 Wait for the Lord, and keep to his way,
and he will exalt you to inherit the land;
you will look on the destruction of the wicked.

35 I have seen the wicked oppressing,
and towering like a cedar of Lebanon.*
36 Again I* passed by, and they were no more;
though I sought them, they could not be found.

37 Mark the blameless, and behold the upright,
for there is posterity for the peaceable.
38 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed;
the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
he is their refuge in the time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and rescues them;
he rescues them from the wicked, and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having spent many a restless night, it never occurred to me I could be wrestling with God or an Angel. We are told to give our worries to God, and ask Him to help us with our situation. God can use angels or friends or strangers to work His will. God is with us, do we trust him? Have we let go of our problem? It we cling to it then, we are the problem. Which is usually true. Jacob did what he could, which was smart, and then had to let God work it out. The name change is always something of a puzzle to me. Whether it be Abraham, or Sarah, or other. Significant I'm sure. An outward manifestation of an inward change, perhaps.
Holy Heavenly Father, hear our prayer, we cry out for peace, relief from deception, false teaching, twisted and perverted information, help us LORD. Thy will be done, O Merciful One, full of tender mercies and loving kindness, help us, keep our feet on the path we are to walk and be pleasing unto our Holy God. for the peace of Israel, Jerusalem, for the persecuted believers , and for the peace and restoration of America and America's faith and values, in Jesus name amen.* ************************************************************
Psalms 19 KJV
The Perfect Revelation of the Lord To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.
2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line[a] has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
5 Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
6 Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
