It depends on the congregation.

The Lord’s PRESENCE in any demonstrable form

is literally

THE GREATEST ‘SHOW’ ON EARTH in a list of ways.

And for most individuals sick of phoney, shallow, milque toasty fare that passes for most of Christianity—HIS PRESENCE is a dramatically DIFFERENT experience easy to get excited about.

I don’t blame folks for getting excited and wanting to do any and everything they can to facilitate a ‘repeat performance.’

However, it is true that solid Biblical teaching needs to be thoroughly involved before, during and after any and everything we do in Christianity—including experiencing God’s Acts 2 maniffestations etc.

God's greatest work is in the heart and with a transformed life. It's not as showy, but it also does not leave room for spiritual pride, creating a *have's* vs *have not's* mentality.

There is so much judgment involved in the Charismatic movement, all based on outward appearances instead of the inward working of God in one's life which does not draw attention to self.

The reasons we are given power are these, not for show or display.....

Ephesians 3:14-19 14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Colossians 1:9-14 9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
