Anyone who is old enough to remember Sen. John F. Kennedys run for president in 1960 knows that this used to be not just a Christian country, but a Protestant one. Admittedly, the Constitution makes the United States secular by law, but for most of our history, we have been Protestant by choice.
All that has changed in recent years. We now have a Catholic speaker of the House (John Boehner), a Catholic House minority leader (Nancy Pelosi) and a Catholic vice president (Joe Biden). Six of the nine justices on the Supreme Court are Catholics. And that guy duking it out with Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination? Rick Santorum is Catholic, too.
It wasnt so long ago that U.S. Protestants were burning down Catholic convents to protest efforts by the Vatican to infiltrate American society and take it over from within. Today, you dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to see that Catholics now occupy some of the most powerful positions in the land.
Which leads me to todays top 12 list of Americas most influential Catholics:
1-6: Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Sonia Sotomayor
I know that justices are supposed to stick to interpreting the law rather than making it, especially if they adhere to the judicial philosophy of original intent, but Im not buying it. When it comes to judicial activism, there are really only two kinds of judges: those who know they are acting and those who wrongly imagine they are not.
Throughout U.S. history, the Supreme Court has played nearly as important a role as the presidency on the race question, and a more important role than the U.S. Congress.

And lets not forget the muzzy president hell bent on destroying our country with the help of the rino catholics.
Pelosi, Biden, and Sebelius.
As my Irish grandmother used to say
may the devil take their souls
Canon Law 915 - Those upon whom the penalty of excommunication or interdict has been imposed or declared, and others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin, are not to be admitted to holy communion.
Really raises my blood pressure that these high profile Rats are identified as Catholics by the media.
IMHO The Catholic Church has been remiss in ex communicating certain Catholics based on the church's teachings - Pelosi; Ted Kennedy etc... or was the Church steering a path to ensure separation of Church and Country?
When I grew up, the USMC was often referred to the US “MC”, or Irish Marines (mostly Catholics but we like our brother Left Footers, said in a spirit of brotherhood). In WWII Catholics numbered 25% of the population, but 33% of the front lines. Hmmm, perhaps the bigotry you set forth is just a continuation. GET REAL!... or take your meds.
By YOU I mean the CNN blogger. But anger blurred my typing
may the devil take their souls, and the lawyers take their lands....
Do you have the source for that? I know that WWII was a war fought by draftees, but Southerners are so drawn to combat arms, that the number surprises me.
Uh, when exactly did THAT happen?
did they bother to notice Mother Angelica and Father Mitch?
Actually in 1830s and 40s. After that the Irish were too numerous to take head on, even in their impoverished state.

Mother who? ;)
I went to a Catholic school. I learned that there. Sorry I do not have a readable source, but I have no reason to doubt it. At least we weren’t the Red Ball express and made a prime target.
Sorry but I need a source for that, saying that you heard it as a kid, is not a source.
Sorry, but you want to define “is” as in research it yourself if you doubt it.
So you made it up, that is why I asked for a source, it sounded like you did.
In no particular order and no particular faithfulness but no doubt influential:
Frank Sinatra
Vince Lombardi
Joe DiMaggio
Mother Angelica
William F. Buckley, Jr.
Servant of God Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
Dave Brubeck
Al Capone
Saint Mother Seton
Babe Ruth
Bob Hope
Alfred Hitchcock (dual citizen 1956)
Your claim that I “made it up” is just a promotion of your bigotry. Guess you cannot do research.
