Please thank the Catholic church for throwing the US election to Obama {Barf alert]

It's that time, every four years, when the Catholic leadership tries to throw the US elections to the Republicans.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops called for two weeks of public protest in June and July against what it sees as growing government encroachment on religious freedom.

The protests are expected to include priests and nuns and thousands of Catholic parishioners. Some activists expect civil disobedience, which could lead to powerful images of priests and nuns being led away in hand restraints.

Can't be long now until they start cutting off communion to Democrats.

I always get a kick out of two things when the Catholic leadership tries to influence US elections on behalf of Republicans.
1. That the Catholic leadership actually acts as if it still has any moral authority whatsoever after aiding and abetting, and continuing to cover up, the decades-long serial rape of children; and
2. That it pretends to represent some huge Catholic constituency when it views don't even represent a majority of US Catholics. Meaning, if you want to do the bidding of American Catholics, watch these people protest then do the opposite of what they're asking for.

...As for the protests themselves, someone needs to counter-protest with a group of five year old boys holding signs saying "you lost your moral authority when you covered up my rape." The only way to chasten the Catholic leadership is for them to know that every single time they try to force all Americans to live under Catholic doctrine Americans will be reminded that these are the same people who to this day still protect child rapists.

Wow. Liberals think every four years, when the Catholic leadership tries to throw the US elections to the Republicans. -- that means the Bishops are doing something good!

And note the trotting out of the familiar bit about the scum-bag paedophiles priests (that were only 2 to 3% of the total number of priests) -- completely ignoring the fact that these were scum with homosexual tendencies...

Catholics — take heed, the liberals have declared OPEN war on us along with other Christians. It’s our duty to take this message to the CINOs, to the blinkered Christians out there and tell them how Obambi’s attack on basic rights is progressing smoothly and how it will end up with the US as a larger version of North Korea if we don’t KICK the *** out now.

hey I think the author is a regular here on FR. I wonder what his screen name is.

2. That it pretends to represent some huge Catholic constituency when it views don't even represent a majority of US Catholics.

They never claimed to represent anything but the authentic teachings of the Churh.

I guess the pope will have a hard time in his reelection if he loses the United States' cardinals in the Vatican electoral college.

Wait, the Church isn't a republic? When did that happen?

I think the author means the Liberal Pro-Abortion/Pro-Artificial Contraception forcing Democrats.

But recently, a priest in Maryland was removed for suggesting a lesbian not receive communion. So we can only pray.

"you lost your moral authority when you covered up my rape."

Is he referring to Public School teachers?

On the other hand trying to throw the elections to the dems would be acceptable to the author. Please. Is his beef with the Catholic leadership over their political failures or victories, the medical mandates, the molesting priests scandal.....what exactly?

The worst part of the election cycle is the endless pretentious soap box blobs. Yes, I meant blobs....shapeless lumps of verbiage.

Throw the election? Heck, Boshop Conlon formerly of the Steubenville Diocese told us to vote for obama in ‘08.

Although I do not live in your diocese, I do not believe your assertion here.

Clergy can make recommendations on issues, but not on candidates.

If they make recommendations on candidates, the risk losing the tax-exempt status they have.

I get so tired of these falsehoods about ONLY the Catholic Church. These are old numbers so I am sure the percentage numbers are down even more......but look at who voted for Obama -- really.

50 percent of Catholics (Catholics make up about 22 percent of the U.S. population.) approve of his presidency, down from 67 percent in his first six months in office.
DOWN 17 POINTS

among non-Catholic Christians, who make up 55 percent of the U.S. population, had fallen from 58 percent to 43 percent.
DOWN 15 POINTS

Mormon respondents, who represent about two percent of U.S. adults, fell from 43 percent to 26 percent
DOWN 17 POINTS

About 78 percent of Muslim respondents approved of the Obama presidency, down eight percentage points from when the question was first asked.  (86)
DOWN 8 POINTS

atheists, agnostics, and members of other non-Christian religions, who comprise about 13 percent of the U.S. population -- While about 75 percent of these respondents approved of President Obama at the start of his term, their approval declined to about 64 percent.
DOWN 11 POINTS

Jews were the religious group third likeliest to approve of President Obama, giving him 61 percent approval. This too is a decline: in January-June 2009, their approval rating of the president was 77 percent.
DOWN 16 POINTS

Overall, 48 percent of Americans approve of President Obama’s job, down from 63 percent in the first months of his presidency. Gallup claims that its survey of over 276,000 adults claims an overall margin of error of plus or minus one percent.
DOWN 15 POINTS

I'm sure on some planet his analysis is impressive, but his weak link is: this is Earth.

I think we have a duty to ensure that they STAY worried and make more mistakes, push further to the left. I see this bloob as one that will not only alienate Christians but also CINOs and folks who like their liberty — we should get the message out that this is about Government forcing people to do something against what they want to do — it’s state control over the individual, Stalinism lite
