Pray for our daughter's wedding

Posted on 06/14/2012 8:06:48 PM PDT by stonehouse01

Our oldest is getting married Saturday - pray for us - her father especially who is anxious.

Joy - her sisters are singing in the second oldest church in the state - the wedding gorgeous tent in a field near Cooperstown - it promises to be great (for my fellow catholics - we picked the traditional readings)

I hope it goes well - in my diocese - Washington DC - you can't get married outside of a church. I'm happy for you and that you have chosen traditional readings. I hope that you have also selected traditional music and not the base material that some of our parishes are burdened with.

All the best for the Bride and Groom! May they have a long and fulfilling life together, blessed with many children!

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Sounds absolutely idyllic...may God Bless you all on your very special day.

Everyone has their own idea of a “special” wedding day-I hope yours is as special as you have imagined it to be- for you!

God must smile when He is called upon at a wedding; as a child I always thought that it was God’s most favorite thing to do because everyone was soooo happy!

But I would always be upset because He never came to the reception!
For a kid back in the day before DVDs etc when you had the entertainment at hand and that was it, I looked forward to Him walking thru the door.... I was so disappointed everytime when He didn’t’show’ because I really wanted to talk to Him as there was not much for me to do there and I had a lot of questions....kind of still feel the same way, but now I know how busy He is!

;-) Have a Joyous Day! (hope you don’t mind me sharing!)

SuZQ

“I looked forward to Him walking through the door..”

the sacrament of marriage is the invitation - He shows through the life of the couple ( not limited to the reception)

Dad and Mom will savor the moment, as your sweet and just reward. Congratulations for your fine intentions in serving Tradition for your daughter’s Sacrament of Marriage. Just beautiful.

The Peace of Christ be upon the bride and groom and you and Dad.

“married outside, etc.”

The ceremony is in St. Mary’s ‘ one of the oldest churches in New York State - we still have an altar rail and kneel for communion - the tent is later.

I picked all the music and the my daughters are singing Panis Angelicus (bread of heaven duet and Ave Maria)

I can’t wait for the feedback “woman subject to their husbands??”

Outstanding! I misunderstood your post. The Franck Panis, I presume? One of my favorites.

All the best!

Yes!! It is the Franck! And Margaret Mary is singing Schubert’s Ave - although we briefly considered the Bach - and they are in the choir loft.

New topic- some other time - why are amatuers singing in front of us ??? (in some churches)

Prayers up for this happy couple. May they always keep God in their lives, recite and understand the words of the Our Father and they should weather the storm of this anti marriage (except for deviants) culture.

I can vividly remember the singing of Panis Angelicus at my husband and my wedding 54 years ago. Even after all of those years, that went by too quickly, it still warms my heart and soul to hear it sung!

“wedding 54 years ago) Yes and it will be the sisters of the bride - (20 and 14) singing in perfect harmony as only sisters can do)

It is the bread of heaven that will hold the couple.

We are coming upon 30 years -

I will certainly pray for your daughter's wedding! You can return the favor on October 13 when my daughter Joy is getting married in an outdoor wedding aboard Camp Lejeune MCB near Jacksonville, NC. Her twin sister is not singing, but she is the maid of honor. I wanted Joy to get married in our church surrounded by the gorgeous stained glass windows that depict the life of Christ and with my friend our organist playing the organ. As she has reminded me numerous times over the past few months, “Mom, it's MY wedding.” Therefore, the wedding is on the banks of the New River and the music will be provided by a string quartet.:) I pray that your daughter's wedding day will beautiful, that your husband will be relaxed, that your other daughters sing sweetly, and that the mother of the bride and the entire family will have a wonderful day to remember. More importantly, I pray that your daughter and her new husband will also remember that the strongest marriages are made up of three - husband, wife, and Jesus Christ.
