Our oldest is getting married Saturday - pray for us - her father especially who is anxious.
Joy - her sisters are singing in the second oldest church in the state - the wedding gorgeous tent in a field near Cooperstown - it promises to be great (for my fellow catholics - we picked the traditional readings)
The wedding will be beautiful and perfect, I’m sure.
As an aside, I saw my daughter reduce a priest to tears on the altar when she sang Panis Angelicus (Franck) as a meditation at the end of Mass. She was 15 at the time. Fr. Galla just sat there and wept. Afterwards he said that it had been his mother’s favorite song.
To tell the truth, I was weeping too. I had never heard her sing that song before. It was a total shock to me that she could sing so beautifully. She went on to earn 2 degrees in music and a life career as a singer, director, teacher of music. But, before that day, I hadn’t known she could sing.
Congrats, and of course, she is in our prayers. Wonderful news.
Is that the Cooperstown, NY, USA which is also the home of the baseball hall of fame?
Congrats to your daughter and God Bless!
It is that Cooperstown - also home of the Glimmerglass opera and setting to one of James Fenimore Cooper’s novels. The reception is in the back hills to the east of Cooperstown - proverbial middle of nowhere!! Not a cell phone tower to be seen!!
I’m surprised that the vowos will not be given and received inside the Church. Valid wedding?
The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant to be kept forever.
I also misunderstood your initial post.
May the Lord help this couple to keep their convental promises.
Should have offered her a bribe to elope!
