Emergency Prayer Requested

Posted on 09/27/2012 7:47:39 PM PDT by caldera599

I have been out of work for nearly six months and have had nearly all my job applications rejected. I have student loans due, seemingly no prospects and I don't know what to do. Please pray hard for me that I may find employment soon.

I am so sorry to hear about your hardship Caldera. Don’t give up. One day at a time. Something will come up for work as you trust in the Lord. He will never leave or forsake you. Many trials in this life and uncertainties. But His promises are true. Not saying it’s easy. But He will carry you in times of trial. That’s a promise.

Prayers of provision for you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It might sound funny, but ask the G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob to inspire you to give to a good cause. In Judaism, it is called Sedaka, and it would start a chain of events that you will not believe....

I suggested it as a temp solution to a temp problem. If they are down on their luck and have burned through their savings that is what the safety net is for. It is not for living off of for the rest of your life.

Prayers lifted.

(Home health care worker or nursing home staff is another possibility. Some of the aide work only requires minimal training that they often do in house.)

You have my prayers, now look in here (extensive employment section) The Shopper, Williston ND and here: indeed.com

It isn't all oil jobs, there are scads of support jobs as well. Even the fast food jobs pay pretty well, but housing is expensive.

Consider hiring on at your local Wal-Mart and transfer to work in ND. I have heard that housing is provided and the pay in Williston is significantly better than in other areas.

My brother knows folks in the oil field. Yes there is a ripple-effect of pay increases all around. (The local kid that used to work at Arby’s is now pulling in triple on a water truck, etc.)

Also - he said they find it hard to find good people that will stay on. After the first paycheck or two, lots of the workers think they are rich and head off to party or pay off their trailer back home.

I know after my first paycheck as a kid (30+ years ago) on an oil-rig I felt the same way. (Although I didn’t quit) I bought a dozen roses and a gold necklace for my girlfriend of two years. (I told my mom and she got mad, and called it a waste. So I bought my mom a dozen roses too!) Looking back, I wish I had just stuck to the roses! (I wonder if she still has that necklace?)

I'm out on a rig now, waiting for them to get back to bottom and circulate. What I do is somewhat specialized, and during really slow years I may end up doing other things, but in the good years it pays very well.

I know 'kids' who have started successful businesses, providing niche services for folks in the oil patch. I have heard of fast food wages in the $12-15/hr range. Those are 'leg up' jobs, and the turnover is high so advancement into management positions can happen pretty fast for those with talent.

For those who are willing to work hard, make a few contacts and move on to something better, the opportunity to pick up experience and a paycheck exists.

Start volunteering for a local politician - some job will pop up. Then you can get involved, as a conservative, and soon we’ll be voting for you as our new president!

But, seriously, it’s a good way to make contacts with businessmen.
