The Cult has started a new ad campaign in New York [Where the Mormon tithe & temple fits in]

How about being straight up and saying that Mormons put on costumes and chant rituals in secret buildings that only 10% of gross earnings paid as "tithes" allow entrance?

Mormonism wants people to think they are normal that they are just Christians like everyone else. Each year they get rid of more and more of their embarrassing doctrines - or doctrines that aren't politically correct anymore. Apologist attack dogs fight any critics on technicalities.

Mormonism has one thing that works for them - and that is the funneling of cash from members to the Cult coffers. This is done through mandatory tithe. And in order to make this tithe work - and make the member believe in the Cult enough to pay - they have to have the secret temple ceremonies. You have to put a ton of make believe in there.

Stephen R. Donaldson is one of my favorite authors. In one of his series of books he explained how a great and noble group of leaders were slowly corrupted through the centuries by simple infiltration of ideas. The ideas changed the group slowly until they went from helping people to human sacrifices. The new leaders of the group knew what was going on - but they surrounded themselves with those who only had faith - not knowledge. Those who had faith were much stronger because they were driven by the new cult. Those who held faith were much easier to control.

Pondering the story Donaldson had written I saw the same manifested in the Cult of Mormonism. If you have members who are so convinced you are the one and only true Cult, they will not hesitate to open their pocketbooks and hand over everything. Mormonism needs this kind of special, secret, garment wearing, new name, pay lay ale - in order to keep the tithes flowing. If the cat is out of the bag, the tithing will stop.

So the reality is there is a certain point where Mormonism must stop moving towards Christianity - it has to because money is ultimately the top priority of the Cult. Money - Power - Control.

Look at all the recovery boards right now - even the NOM boards. What is the #1 topic right now because of upcoming December? Tithing. Tithing. Tithing. Oh and don't forget tithing. Sign up for tithing settlement. And don't forget to sign up for tithing settlement.

“All of our messaging is focused on helping people understand that Mormons are Christian,”

Naw, Mormonism isn't a Christian church. It's a secretive Cult with very cultish practices and it has to stay that way - or go broke.

BD “I'll not even try to address all the errors your own numerous & lengthy posts contain, for now just a note concerning this exchange;”

Thank you so much for your consideration, I'll try to make sure people who are not part of the conversation understand what is going on.

BD “is false citation of that “rule” or guideline, for reason that Colofornian was not attempting to read your mind or attribute motive, but was speaking of what he “took away from reading”...

It was an invitation to tell him what I thought he was thinking, and I was declining based on the rule, thanks!

Don't bother to ping anyone, the point was that you can find something bad to say about anyone, but it doesn't make it true. (So I'm not saying any of that is true.)

One more example, the Sanhedrin convicted Jesus of blasphemy for saying he was the son of God... Which he was.

BD “Show me what the Mormon Church has done that is a greater.”

Not gonna play that game. What I think is great, you'll dismiss as worthless.

I really don't care if you think the LDS are “Great” or not, we don't do stuff to be seen of men.

BD “ FR thread comment #211 agrees with many here that criticizing Mormonism is a waste of time.”

Then stop wasting your time.

I have no idea what you are referring to as #18.

Of course, that is always possible with any of us...

Tell you what, I'll see you there, and you can teach me to drink Beer

Under the circumstances - your devout hatred for anything LDS - please zot/ban me again.

There is no use in my defending my love for the Savior Jesus Christ here on this site when you exhibit such utter contempt for Him and me.

Point out exactly where Mr. Robinson expresses contempt for the Savior Jesus Christ.

Or...are you conflating the God and Savior Jesus Christ with Joseph Smith, who richly deserves utter contempt.

Smith may be a god and savior to mormons, but he is not either to Christians.

E “I ‘remember’ that you've avoided BY like the plague!”

Not avoiding Brigham Young at all, some of your posts however, I ignore because they are a waste of time.

I wonder that you have so much time to post...

Provide this "history" of which you speak.

It could be that mormons were banned for exhibiting their self-assumed "superiority" which led to their ignoring and/or breaking forum rules while also assuming they could get away with it.

Self-assumed superiority seems to be an imaginary mantle donned by mormons along with their temple garments.

April 9, 1852, Brigham Young, the second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said:
Adam was Michael the Archangel
Adam was, in fact, “our Father and our God”

February 19, 1854, Wilford Woodruff, who would later become Mormonism’s fourth president, wrote that Brigham Young “said that our God was Father Adam. He was the Father of the Savior Jesus Christ — Our God was no more or less than ADAM, Michael the Arkangel (sic).”

October of 1976, Spencer W. Kimball labeled Brigham’s teaching “false doctrine”.

1980, LDS Apostle Bruce McConkie taught “anyone who has received the temple endowment and who yet believes the Adam-God theory does not deserve to be saved.”

So based on mormonISM teachings if the Adam-God doctrine is false, as lds leaders such as Kimball and McConkie have agree, then was Brigham’s soul lost?

It certainly seems Sandy that the leaders of lds have contempt for the God of the bible.

And how well did that work our DU - 3000+ changes and counting.

So spelling corrections, punctuation and verses and chapter headings... LOL!

IF you count that stuff then well I don't know if there is a big enough number for the Bible's changes.

Just relax, you don't believe it anyway.

I've read an 1830 replica, it's the same book.

So spelling corrections, punctuation and verses and chapter headings

How is that even possible when the lds god gave JS the information and JS wrote it down that anything was wrong or in error?

May I simply state that You have taken much out of context then.

I have never heard that analogy and I was a missionary.

The cross is not offensive, but who knows how many were crucified by the Romans, it was not a one time event, Jesus was crucified between two thieves, was he not?

Jesus Death was voluntary and was the culmination of his sacrifice, not the entirety of it.

The Atonement was a one time thing, no-one else qualified, not was capable of it.

To imply that Mormons discount the Atonement of Jesus Christ is to grossly misstate the facts.

yes, I knew you might focus upon that which you have, and not acknowledge the real meat, that was in the middle. But as to the rest, and that which you have commented upon, as reply to here, how can answers provided by you be seen as facing and addressing the issue? Non-answer diversionary answers don't cut it.

Claiming now;

is more continuation of the diversion away from the question posed, for he did not ask you to mind read, but told you directly at that time what he DID "[take] away from reading", which lead to a follow-up question then posed to you.

Should the question be asked again?
