The Catholics Church determined what you read in the Bible and the Catholic Church CAME BEFORE THE BIBLE.

No, they determine what YOU read in the Bible.

I follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, not an organization that started in the forth century.

Let's see, the Bible starts with Moses' writings.

That's news to me, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit that the Catholic Church was around before Moses started writing.

There were many scriptures written down (that's the Bible, scriptures God breathed by the Holy Spirit) long before the Catholic church started centuries later.

It's interesting that you say your denomination gave us the Bible, while at the same time they burned at the stake some who wanted to translate it into other languages so everyone could read it.

If the Catholic hierarchy gave the Bible to anyone, it gave it to itself and tried diligently to keep it from the other Christians.

And death to those who tried to spread the word.

Not to mention a Pope getting ecstatic over the torture of one of his enemies. (Want his name and record?)

Your denomination has committed many atrocious acts over the centuries and the REAL One who gave us the Bible is the Holy Spirit...Who has only done good.

This has all been hashed out here at FR in the RF for the last few months and the Catholic organization has come up dreadfully lacking in Christian teaching.

“But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written”
When you guys get all of that written down, get back to me.

Should be easy as time travel seems to be no problem for your org.

Thank you so much for your posts!

The Catholic Church was STARTED BY CHRIST. As such it is divinely inspired. It is God’s Pilgrim Church on Earth. Your PROTESTant ecclesiastical community was started by a mortal man, Smith, Luther, Calvin, whatever you want to call him.

Catholics compiled the Scriptures and determined which ones were divinely inspired, which determined which ones YOU would read in the Bible. Without the Catholic Church there would have never been any Gospels for you to read. Now have a great day and quit showing your lack of knowledge of the history of Christianity.

“To be deep in history is to cease to be protestant”.

Cardinal John Henry Newman
Catholic convert (Former Angelican priest)

According to whom? By what PROOF?

Don't look now, but the Protestant canon is not the canon of the Roman church. And by now, it should be apparent to anyone that the Protestant canon, while possibly considered a fork, derived and derives from it's own formulation, with it's own criteria and ruleset, wholly different from that determined by your magichysterium. While I endorse no canon, it is disingenuous for you (y'all) to claim ownership of what is distinctly a Protestant process.

Just be happy y'all have agreement that you got some of it right.

[...] quit showing your lack of knowledge of the history of Christianity. [...] “To be deep in history is to cease to be protestant”. -Cardinal John Henry Newman

Funny that. I am deep in history, and the process has caused me to harden my stance against Rome... From merely Protestant to outright antipathy... revulsion even. Folks like to trot out Newman and his quote, but that doesn't mean it is true. The fact of his conversion would clearly indicate that his view on history was necessarily shallow.

The Catholic Church was STARTED BY CHRIST.

My, didn't you read my post?

The catholic (universal) church was started by Jesus Christ. What Christ you are talking about I have no idea.

That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.--Romans 10:9

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.--John 3:14

His church is made of of every soul that believes in Him and is born again and has a personal relationship with Jesus, us in Him and Him in us. This is what Jesus Christ SAID.

The Catholic Church was STARTED BY CHRIST. As such it is divinely inspired. It is God’s Pilgrim Church on Earth.

No it most certainly isn't. I know you are bound to believe and pass around that misconception, fine.

Your PROTESTant ecclesiastical community was started by a mortal man, Smith, Luther, Calvin, whatever you want to call him.
It's not my concern. I have made it clear that I am NOT a Protestant, yet you continue to waste words acting like I am.

Your love for Joseph Smith and faith in the LDS Mormon church is just apalling.

Makes as much sense doesn't it?

If I am a Protestant, you are a Mormon. Own it.

Without the Catholic Church there would have never been any Gospels for you to read.

Oh that's right, you don't have any idea what and who the Holy Spirit is and His purpose.

I read the Bible brought to Christians by the Holy Spirit.

Catholism seems to have put some books together to form a Bible, but while doing so destroyed those works they did not like.

The Holy Spirit has correcrted that for Christians, for Catholics? Not so much sadly.

Your statement reeks of propanganda and falseity.

There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:

Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,

A heart that devises wicked plans,

Feet that run rapidly to evil,

A false witness who utters lies,

And one who spreads strife among brothers.---Proverbs 6:16-19

A lying tongue hates those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth works ruin.--Proverbs 26:28

Now have a great day and quit showing your lack of knowledge of the history of Christianity.

I have a great day every day, you? Not so much it seems.

Your History is Catholic history.

I am well versed in Christian history and have been schooling you in it. But it seems like that pesky "have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear" and "Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear?" thingie from the Bible.

Jesus is still knocking, open the door and He will come in. It's very simple to have a personal born again relationship with Him.

I'd love to see you as a member of His church.

“Your History is Catholic history”.

Catholic history IS CHRISTIAN HISTORY. If you had lived before your glorious reformation in the 1500s you would have been a Catholic. Luther absolutely never intended for the Catholic Church to break apart. He wanted public discussions about indulgencies to be made by the Church. But idiots around him had other ideas. The forces of Satan won out and the Church was split, and apostolic succession was broken forever for those that followed the forces of evil that were intent on destroying the Church. Luther would have been appalled at the idea of a faith calling itself the Luthern Church. It was morons that followed him that broke away from the TRUE CHURCH, i.e, CATHOLIC CHURCH.

This protest against indulgences would become a protest against Rome itself and thus marked the start of the Protestant Reformation.

Amazingly, this protest would succeed, gain the support of German nobles, and overthrow the dominion of the pope in central Europe. In fact, no public discussion took place at all, but students—who already agreed with him—published and spread the 95 theses throughout Germany in the matter of a few weeks.

Keep in mind though, that at the time …

Luther had as yet no idea of reforming the Catholic church, and still less of separating from it. All the roots of his life and piety were in the historic church, and he considered himself a good Catholic even in 1517, and was so in fact. He still devoutly prayed to the Virgin Mary from the pulpit; he did not doubt the intercession of saints in heaven for the sinners on earth; he celebrated mass with full belief in the repetition of the sacrifice on the cross and the miracle of transubstantiation. (History of the Christian Church, Vol. VII, ch. 2, sec. 29)

Later, shortly before his death, Luther would write a preface to the 95 theses describing himself as an “insane papist” at the time, and he added, “I would have readily murdered any person who denied obedience to the Pope.”

“Your History is Catholic history”.

Catholic history IS CHRISTIAN HISTORY. If you had lived before your glorious reformation in the 1500s you would have been a Catholic.

Christians have been around since Jesus first started his ministry. No Catholics were though. Catholicism didn't start until hundreds of years later, backed up by history.

I didn't read any further than what I c/p'd back to you because if you cannot even understand that you are addressing me in a way that does not relate to my relationship with God---and all the rest doesn't relate to most Christians lives anyway ,all of the rest of what you posted is as untrue as your misconception of my faith.

Your apparant hatred for all things and people non Catholic is a sickness.

For goodness sake, can't you be honest?

Your failure to understand the basic concepts and percepts of Christianity is astounding.

I suggest you look in a mirror and read these scripture aloud:

Your statements reeks of propanganda and falseity.

There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:

Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,

“Christians have been around since Jesus first started his ministry. No Catholics were though. Catholicism didn’t start until hundreds of years later, backed up by history”

The word Catholic means universal. All Christians were Catholic from the days of Christ till the reformation. They all celebrated the Mass, they all believed in the sacraments of the Catholic Church. They all believed in the real presence at the Eucharist. Discussing the true Church with you is akin to taking to a wall. Your last name must be Swaggart.

The foundational principle of Protestantism — the Bible alone and only the Bible — is not Biblical!

Protestantism claims to base its entire belief system in the Bible alone, but the principle of “The Bible alone” is a non-Biblical principle; it is a principle that is nowhere found in the Bible.

Saint Paul instructs us in II Thessalonians 2:14 to stand fast and “hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle.”

The word Catholic means universal.

Yes, I explained that to you in post #104, here it is again EXACTLY the way I taught it to you in that post:

The catholic (universal) church was started by Jesus Christ.

It's that simple.

When it is capitalized by a proponent of Catholicism, although also a follower of Joseph Smith, it has a different meaning.

It has no need to be typed with a big "c" until 325AD when the Catholic church started.

Any other use of in that manner is simply rewriting history.

That is best left to the liberals.

All Christians were Catholic from the days of Christ till the reformation. They all celebrated the Mass

Oh they did not. The term mass didn't even become in common usage until the 4th century.

They commemorated the Last Supper by partaking of the Lords Supper, with the Body and Blood of Jesus as He commanded

It's properly called communion.

Discussing the true Church with you is akin to taking to a wall. Your last name must be Swaggart.

Swaggart, I believe he is a Catholic. One who fell away from your church. You trying to insult me?

You so far have refused to discuss the true church, you apparently sluff it off as an annoyance.

You discuss a different belief system than the one that Jesus Christ instigated around 2000 years ago.

You seem to know a lot about Protestantism, probably as accurate as your other proclamations.

Not my interest, I am not a Protestant.

If I am, then you are a Mormon.

Though if I had a choice of believing the Bible alone vs putting Catholic tradition as EQUAL WITH THE HOLY SCRIPTURES AS CATHOLICS DO TO THE GREIVING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND HIS GOD BREATHED SCRIPTURES, I would choose the Bible instead of that Holy Spirit grieving belief.

That is straight out of Mormon teachings, the Fathers=the Prophets in the skewing of true Christianity.

Your pontifications are sounding more and more like Joseph Smith as you go on and on and on.

I believe you have in the past hung the title Protestant upon me also.

It was done so much by NKP_Vet that I decided if he must see me as a Protestant, I will see him as a Mormon.

He certainly seems to subscribe to their argumentative ways.

Are you a Mormon also, or is it OK with you if I am not a Protestant?

Sorry, I don't click on walls of links.

Is that your loss, then, that you might be refusing to accept correct information?

Examples of refusing correct information:

Most of those went unanswered.

You may notice when someones gives me a question or a comment, I almost ALWAYS answer it.

When posts are not answered, it’s pretty much “refusing to accept correct information”

Oh and BTW, it’s more polite and internet protocal to state a belief or a comment instead of sending a wall of links with no explanation.

There wasn't much of a discussion. I gave you Biblical truths, you gave me Catholic talking points.

I hope the mods don't see your post and remove it for being a personal attack, mind reading and the false attribution of being a heretic.

Of course over the centuries Catholics have been labeling as heretics any that preached the truth about Jesus and his church, or tried to get the Bible into the hands of the masses.

Many were tortured and then killed. Some burned at the stake.

Here is the manual:

THE MALLEUS MALEFICARUM

The Operating Manual of the Holy Inquisition

A pretty horrendously dark part of history for the Catholic church.

"End of discussion"
