THE IDEA OF A POPE IS BASED ON A FALSE INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE, THAT JESUS WANTED TO BUILD HIS CHURCH ON PETER, INSTEAD OF HIMSELF. WHY WOULD JESUS BUILD HIS CHURCH ON A SINFUL MAN?

I guess he is yelling his dislike of Catholics, or maybe his sarcasm is too astute for me.

Could it be because the Church is the “Bride of Christ” ?

WHY WOULD JESUS BUILD HIS CHURCH ON A SINFUL MAN?

Because that's the only kind there is.

Cal Thomas is a terrible theologian. I can pray to whoever I want and not break the first commandment. Just because some American Protestants think pray means exclusively worship of God doesn’t make it so. Pray also means “to ask” in much of the English world. The bible says that even death cannot separate us from the body of Christ. Therefore, I can pray to (i.e. ask) Mary to pray to Jesus concerning whatever I want to have prayed for.

Looks like his caps lock is stuck. Maybe he should have left this topic to the religion editor. No, wait. . . .

Knowing the Bible, I have to admit that this watching of the smoke looks silly to me.

I have lost a lot of what little respect I had, for the Catholic religion, over this.

Disregard, I was mistaken.

When we pray, who do you think hears those prayers other than God?

Cal Thomas just offered me 30% of his fathers’ diamond mine in Nigeria.

I don’t call that a rant. I call it a legitimate point of view.

His points are very valid ones that have been brought up for centuries and were probably instrumental in Martin Luther’s time and the Reformation.

So, I guess you can argue and argue and argue about those points, but I always try to rely on St. Thomas Aquinas, Fulton Sheen, William Buckley, Jr., etc., all of whom were extremely intelligent, and all of whom were deeply Catholic.

I wonder, therefore, how could they rationalize these contentious points and then resolve that they were going to the right church.

I think as soon as the Catholic church accepts the/a reformist pope the church will be irrelevant. Look at any of the churches who deny that it’s the blood of Christ that buys redemption. Then their will be only a remnant of Christians.

“Because that’s the only kind there is.”

Not true. Christ was without sin and he was fully man...!

“Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.”

Strange. While I agree with him, I don’t agree with his approach.

BTW, the Baptist’s believe in a Pope too. They just believe every little church has one. And they call him “Pastor” instead of “Pope.”

Just as unscriptural......nowhere in the NT is there a man titled as a pastor heading a church. No where. Only use of singular noun “pastor” (Gr: poimen) always refers to and is only used in reference to the Lord Jesus.

In Eph. 4 is is one of the gifts given to men to serve the body of Christ. It is never a title or position. It is plural, not singular. Except referring to Jesus.

For those who proclaim the absolute truth of scripture, there is no doctrine/practice more unscriptural in Christendom than having one man head a local church and call him the “pastor”.

Ok, flame away, all who believe in the local pope.

Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt, got the tatoo.....

At least it’s a view held my more than half of all who call themselves Christian.

Not that matters of Christian conscience are subject to a popular vote.

Cal Thomas is a Reformed Christian.

He is not a Catholic now, nor have I heard that he ever was a Catholic.

1 Timothy 2:5 - For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

Further why should I pray to a person, when I can talk to God directly?
