THE IDEA OF A POPE IS BASED ON A FALSE INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE, THAT JESUS WANTED TO BUILD HIS CHURCH ON PETER, INSTEAD OF HIMSELF. WHY WOULD JESUS BUILD HIS CHURCH ON A SINFUL MAN?

Before that perhaps. I believe it was part of the Nazirite rites.

What are you talking about??? Mary isn't DIVINE....God sent His SON to die on the Cross for our sins and Mary is His Mother.

I really feel sorry for all of you who have been taught by your preacher's LIES and DISTORTIONS about the Catholic Church. Why not look into the Baltimore Catechism for FACTS......that is if you can handle them. I will pray for you. No one should go thru life thinking wrong about the Mother of God.

Perhaps you answered your own question. "if Mary were without sin, why could she not atone for the sins of all? Why did she not go to Calvary’s cross?"

Because Mary knew that only Jesus was God. She was His mother at the cross. Behold your mother.

In the Hebrew Bible, a Nazirite or Nazarite, (in Hebrew: נזיר, nazir), refers to one who voluntarily took a vow described in Numbers 6:1–21. The proper noun "Nazarite" comes from the Hebrew word nazir meaning "consecrated" or "separated". [1] This vow required the man or woman to: Abstain from wine, wine vinegar, grapes, raisins, intoxicating liquors[2] and vinegar distilled from such substances.[3] *Refrain from eating or drinking any substance that contains any trace of grapes.[4] Refrain from cutting the hair on one's head; but to allow the locks of the head's hair to grow.[5] Not to become impure by corpses or graves, even those of family members[6] After following these requirements for a designated period of time (which would be specified in the individual's vow), the person would immerse in a mikveh (a bath or collection of water) and make three offerings: a lamb as a burnt offering (olah), a ewe as a sin-offering (hatat), and a ram as a peace offering (shelamim), in addition to a basket of unleavened bread, grain offerings and drink offerings, which accompanied the peace offering. They would also shave their head in the outer courtyard of the Temple (the Jerusalem Temple for Judaism) and then place the hair on the same fire as the peace offering. (Numbers 6:18)

It seems I read someplace in the bible is that the prayers are sent up to God by an angel holding (forget the name of the item) and that the prayers are a sweet smell to the almighty.....don’t remember chapter and verse, but am open to being corrected.

And the Nazirite has to stay away from dead people, even if they be mother, father, brother or sister.....NOWHERE does it say ANYTHING about Baptism!!

Baptism is from John the Baptist!

I do not know why your vitriol is directed at me. I make no claim of divinity of Mary, quite the opposite. I was dialoging with another poster who claimed Mary to be without sin. I am the one disputing that claim.

I said I pitied people who were taught LIES and DISTORTIONS by their preachers.....Mary is SINLESS....period. Dis her at your own peril.

First, you know not of which you speak concerning me.

I have been told no lies by any minister re: the Lord’s mother. I do not ‘dis’ her nor would I ever and I quite take umbrage at your accusation. I would also remind you that Scripture tells us that Satan is the great accuser; so I suggest you be careful at what you accuse others of.

The reason for my belief that Mary is not without sin is because I find no, I repeat NO Scripture that says that she is. Paul the Apostle said “Let God be true and every man a liar”. The Bible tells me that the fall of man necessitated a Redeemer and the entire Old Testament, and all the testimony of the Prophets foretell of that Savior JESUS.

If you can give me the Scripture that says any person other than Christ and Adam were without sin, I could be persuaded. Otherwise, save your accusations of ‘dis’ the Beloved Mary for someone who’ll take it.

I never said the Church was a building, but it is the Catholic Church. And Christ does love her so.

You notice I said Christ loves all, and you responded Christ loves the Catholic Church - interesting.

Actually, what I wrote was this:

“I never said the Church was a building, but it is the Catholic Church. And Christ does love her so.”

In other words, I first corrected your misrepresentation of what I said (”...the church is not a building...”), and then I pointed out a simple truth: The Church is the Catholic Church and Christ loves His Church. Everything I said was true. You’re the only one who misrepresented anything. That speaks volumes.

I said Christ loves all, and you keep responding “The Church is the Catholic Church and Christ loves His Church”.

So let me phrase it this way, does Christ love all or just Catholics.

"Why not look into the Baltimore Catechism for FACTS."

I prefer the Bible to mans writings when looking for FACTS.

Now that you have confirmed that you’ve lost ALL respect for the Catholic religion (and presumably us Catholics), you can be free to pursue your own religion and pleasures in other threads.
