I just saw this thread and was pleased to hear that David is going to be OK. May I ask how old he is?

My prayers will not only be for his continued healing and well-being, but that justice will be done. So hard to believe that this is going on in our beloved country — and that we have to hope and pray for justice!

Thank you so much for your prayers - David is 19. He has had considerable adversity in his life. At five years of age he was diagnosed with a soft tissue cancer (rhabdomyosarcoma) above his left eye.

Mrs. MacNessa and I stood with him during a year of weekly chemo, through six weeks of daily radiation treatments, several inpatient hospitalizations for line infections and a C. difficile infection. We almost lost him then - his pre-cancer weight was 40 lbs. - by the time of the C. diff infection he was below 28 lbs.

There have been sequellae - as a result of the Rad treatment he developed a cataract in his left eye and underwent lens replacement surgery - successful - at age 12. He continues to have other late effects.

We are very proud of him and most concerned for his future at the same time. We pray daily for him along with many other causes dear to us.

Deo Volente!
