In a dramatic move prior to the release of the final report on Medjugorje, The Papal Nuncio to the U.S. on behalf of the prefect of the CDF Archbishop Müller has issued instructions that no cleric or faithful may participate in any meetings, conferences, or public celebrations in which the authenticity of the apparitions are taken for granted.
This has come as a shock to many in the Medjugorje support community as there was an operating assumption that until final confirmation of inauthenticity, participation as if it were true was allowed by the faithful.
Undoubtedly, some future debate will center around what it means to 'take authenticity for granted." Is it simply sufficient when attending a conference or Medjugorje related celebration that one will accept the final determination of the Church even if one clearly anticipates that the apparitions are true?

People hooked on these apparitions are just that... hooked! So this is good to see. Thank you, Jesus!
and if someone can feel closer to God, what is the problem?....God is everywhere, and sometimes humans like to gather and pray together and if its in a forlorn hard to get to place on earth then why not?.
I remember this. It was very big with some of my friends. And there was a similar “appearance” at a church near either Frederick or Hagerstown, MD about the same time.
I put it in the catagory, to little information to confirm or deny, needs to be studied more.
How is it a bombshell when it is repeating for the umpteenth time something first announced in 1991? Of course, a certain Cardinal from Vienna doesn’t seem to observe these regulations—so the Church is a mess. But that, of course, is hardly news.
It is neither “dramatic” or “a shock”.
Unless ruled a fraud, no final approval is provided until after the visions stop.
The faithful are not to assume approval, just because there has been no official declaration of fraud.
One of my past parish priests, may God rest his soul, was from right over the mountain from Medjugorje. He said that it was utter rubbish, and there was no truth about it. And from what I personally heard from him was that all the people from the village of his ancestral birth did not believe in it either. He said they were children just trying to get attention.
and if someone can feel closer to God, what is the problem?Doesn't the devil win so to speak, if he encourages people to travel miles and miles (chasing "unapproved" apparitions), oftentimes spending four figures, leaving their families, to feel closer to God, when Jesus is right at their door?
I thought this has always been the case.
Someone from our parish who went there brought back a little special Rosary for me.
Hmmm.
Bottom line, though, is the apparitions have not been approved by the Church, so why don’t the faithful that are so fond of Medjugorje, go to Fatima or Lourdes instead? They have little special rosaries there too. :)
