What Bible do you use?

This is the end result of mormonism, the “god”like arrogance that looks with airy tolerance on the Gentile lab rats. If only you had the sense to swallow the blue pill, you could become a human being, if you chose...or a god, if ultimate arrogance, mental trauma or complete brainwashing plus magic temple juju could make you assume such an opinion of yourself.

What other result do you expect from a “Joseph Smith succeeded, Jesus failed, you’re a god, Jehovah was just a man and an also-ran” doctrine? The smile of the “soul winner” who knows they’re not good enough and need to score points to be recommended for magic juju, or the smile of the completely mad who has had the juju, swallowed the koolaid, and can’t wait to send their first memo at their new job: “And let there be light.”

I don’t know about you, but anyone who actually baptizes dead interior designers so one of his spirit wives can redecorate his palace in ths clouds while he creates a new heaven and a new earth, is not one I would over-effort rational debate with. I’d spritz him with holy water, place a “caution” sign, and move on. Just me.

The Bible. There is only one. It is translated into many languages, but I prefer English.

No, there is more than one. Evidently you and I don’t have the same one. Mine is a KJV.

Yours is the King James translation. It is still the same Bible. The one I quoted was an NIV translation. Both are good. I just understand modern English better than ye olde’ English.

Since you are a stickler on translations, can you tell me which is the correct Book of Mormon, the English one or the Spanish one?

12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

_____________________________

12 All who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. 14 When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them 16 on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.

________________________________________

12 For whosoever have sinned without the law, shall perish without the law; and whosoever have sinned in the law, shall be judged by the law.

13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

14 For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature those things that are of the law; these having not the law are a law to themselves:

15 Who shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness to them, and their thoughts between themselves accusing, or also defending one another,

16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Perhaps you should learn Greek if you want the earliest Bible.

NIV 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,[a] a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

KJV 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

WYC 15 Busily keep [Busily care, or keep,] to give thyself an approved, praiseable workman to God, without shame, rightly treating the word of truth.

RSV 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

It's actually a very small sphere of knowledge and shrinking.

Sounds like SOMEONE has been doing the NSA thing during LP & Q of 12 meetings about the state of the Church...

And then getting confused.

The Spanish is a translation of a ‘translation’.

I daresay that the English to Spanish translation is a HELL of a lot more accurate than the Reformed Eygptian to English ‘translation’!

This is all so contentious and if some of the things I have bump into are true some here are going to have egg on their faces...

The works of Malachi Martin, and Karen Hudes, whistleblower, and Former Senior Counsel to the World Bank have made some pretty while remarks and if true many good and faith folks as well the church is going to be overwhelm.

"The Evangelical doctrine, or I should say "Christianity" as a whole is fragile. It's actually a very small sphere of knowledge and shrinking."

"Dream on. This is NOT a message that will meet with favor on FreeRepublic."

So? If you don't like it, prove me wrong. Show me where modern "Christianity" has added one new piece of knowledge about God or His kingdom. I'll be happy to say I was wrong.

"BTW, if this is the mormon stance, WHY do you all keep insisting that you are "Christians"?"

This has be discussed ad nauseam. "Christianity" does NOT equal "Christian". Christianity is a system of religions which includes sects, denominations, and independent churches that revolve around a common set of creeds.

"Christian" is a follower of Jesus Christ.

I am a Christian, but not a member of "Christianity".

Prov.30:5-6 Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

But as a "god" I'm sure after creating your new heaven and a new earth a new Bible is next on your list.

“So? If you don’t like it, prove me wrong.”

Well that’s easy, Egyptologists who can read Egyptian proved the Mormon Book of Abraham, which Smith bought off a travelling mmummy salesman, wrong a long time ago.

“LDS critics point out that, since the original Papyri have been examined by both LDS and non-LDS Egyptologists and both groups have indicated clearly that the scrolls are funerary texts that have nothing to do with Abraham or anything mentioned in the LDS scripture,[4] the Book of Abraham cannot have been translated from the scrolls as Joseph Smith claims and is therefore a false book of scripture. Also, since the translations of the facsimiles were taken from copies of the original papyri and each contains such blatant translation errors as listing drawings of women as men and canopic jars as idols, critics reject the claim made by apologists that the Book of Abraham was translated from scrolls that were lost. Even more blatant, is that Joseph identified specific characters on the facsimiles and gave their translations that Egyptologists say are completely in error.”

http://www.mormonthink.com/book-of-abraham-issues.htm

And this isn’t even the only known fraud that came out of Smith.

Scripturally, you fall to pieces the moment I quote stuff like:

“Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any” (Isaiah 44:8).

Seeing as how you’re a polytheist, this scripture, and every one like it, destroys your claims.

“I am a Christian, but not a member of “Christianity”.

Not only do Christians not recognize your claims, but neither do your leaders historically:

“My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong) – and which I should join. … I was answered by God that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.” He again forbade me to join with any of them – Prophet Joseph Smith, Joseph Smith History 1:18-20

Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century. – Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p.167

The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God. – Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 8:171

Brother Taylor has just said that the religions of the day were hatched in hell. The eggs were laid in hell, hatched on its borders, and then kicked on to the earth.” – Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 6:176

Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom. – Prophet John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, 10:127

Are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of the things of God as the brute beast. – Prophet John Taylor, Journal of Discourses 13:225

What does the Christian world know about God? Nothing ... Why so far as the things of God are concerned, they are the veriest fools; they know neither God nor the things of God. – Prophet John Taylor, Journal of Discourses 13:225

The Book of Mormon remains secure, unchanged and unchangeable … but with the Bible it was not and is not so … it was once in the sole and exclusive care and custody of an abominable organization (Christianity), founded by the devil himself, likened prophetically unto a great whore, whose great aim and purpose was to destroy the souls of men in the name of religion. In these hands it ceased to be the book it once was. – Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, The Joseph Smith Translation, pp. 12, 13

In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints “do not believe in the traditional Christ.”No, I don’t. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. – Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, LDS Church News, June 20, 1998, p.7

To whom are you a christian to?

lds teaches (lds) was once a man
Christians teach He is eternal
lds teaches lds must earn their own salvation
Christians teach Christ paid the price in full
lds teaches (lds) christ paid the price in the garden, not the cross
Christian teach Christ paid the price on the Cross
lds teaches (lds) god was once a man and earned his godhood
Christians teach God is eternal

Claiming to be a’christian’ are you what Joseph Smith said:
“With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world.”
- Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v. 8, p.

What! Are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of the things of God as the brute beast.”
What! Are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of the things of God as the brute beast.”
- Prophet John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, v. 13, p. 225

Who is this “christ” you are christian to?
The lds prophets have already stated that lds do not worship the same christ as Christians.
Or maybe this: It is because the Lord called Joseph Smith that salvation is again available to mortal men....If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation,” ( Mormon Doctrine, p. 396, 670)

I am a Christian, but not a member of "Christianity".

Unfortunately for you and others in the LDS Church, there is no way that you can possibly truthfully call yourself Christian. I recommend you carefully consider the following four issues (there are many more, but start with these) that Christians have with Mormonism:

FIRST: MORMONISM REJECTS MANY ESSENTIAL CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES

I suggest you check out the article: We're Christians just like you! wherein the author presents a number of well-annotated examples.

If necessary, dozens of additional articles and illustrations can be found on this WEBSITE alone.

SECOND: MORMONISM ADDS MANY NEW DOCTRINES WHICH FLAGRANTLY CONTRADICT CHRISTIAN BELIEFS

NO Catholic, Protestant or Jewish scholar ever taught that:

  1. God was not always God
  2. God is a glorified, perfected human being with a body of flesh and bones
  3. God is only one among many Gods
  4. God is married
  5. Jesus is the spirit-brother of Lucifer
  6. Jesus is the literal "Son of God" who was begotten naturally by an immortal Father
  7. Christians are saved by grace coupled with works
  8. Grace is given by God only after a person has denied themselves of all ungodliness
  9. Humans can become Gods
  10. Mankind must believe Joseph Smith was a prophet of God in order to get into heaven

THIRD: THE MORMON CHURCH UNEQUIVOCALLY CONDEMNS CHRISTIANS AND CHRISTIANITY

  1. And the angel of God said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth. And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the whore of all the earth, and she sat upon many waters; and she had dominion over all the earth, among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people. – Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 14:10-11

  2. My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong) – and which I should join. … I was answered by God that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: "they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof." He again forbade me to join with any of themProphet Joseph Smith, Joseph Smith History 1:18-20

  3. Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century. – Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p.167

  4. The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God. – Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 8:171

  5. In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints "do not believe in the traditional Christ."No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. – Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, LDS Church News, June 20, 1998, p.7

If still not convinced, you can find many more similar quotes of Mormon leaders slamming Christians HERE and HERE.

FOURTH: THE MORMON CHURCH ITSELF REJECTS CHRISTIANITY

Beginning with Joseph Smith, Mormon prophets have steadfastly proclaimed all Christian denominations were in a state of apostasy.

This raises an interesting question. A heretic is someone who rejects one or more doctrines of religion, but an apostate is someone who has rejected the religion entirely. How is it, exactly, that you can be something you have completely dismissed? How does that work?

ONE FINAL THOUGHT:

Abraham Lincoln once asked the question, "How many legs does a dog have if you call his tail a leg?

He then answered it by saying, "Four ... Calling his tail a leg doesn't make it one."

And that's the bottom line. Calling yourself a Christian, even if you pray sincerely and get a good feeling in your bosom, doesn't make you a Christian.
