The Pope is “shocked” by Malta’s Civil Unions Bill, which will allow gay couples to adopt children, Auxiliary Bishop Charles Scicluna has told The Sunday Times of Malta.

Defending his decision to use his Christmas homily to reiterate that a family had to be built around a man and a woman, Mgr Scicluna said he had aired these concerns with Pope Francis when he met him on December 12.

“We discussed many aspects...and when I raised the issue that’s worrying me as a bishop [the right for gay couples to adopt] he encouraged me to speak out," Bishop Scicluna said.

My interpretation of the Pope’s previous comments on homosexuality “shock” me as to this attitude concerning gay adoption.

?? To which comment are you referring?

I presume he means “who am I to judge?”

No, no, no, you don’t know what the Pope said by reading his words. To know what he meant you have to read one of the many “what the Pope really said” threads here on FR. It is there you will find that he is not really a social justice practitioner but really a conservative Pope whose comments the MSM cherry pick to make it appear that he supports statism.

Hey, I’m not insulated from this stuff and I’m, not so much shocked, but definitely going “Society, go home. You’re drunk.”

Isn’t it interesting that we never had to have Benedict’s words re-translated from a mistranslation? His quote from Manuel II Paleologus about islam left no doubt in the MSM’s interpretation of what was meant.

Francis, on the other hand....

Ed Zackery. I sometimes think I indulge in nostalgia when I remember JPII being clear and consice. Good to know that others remember things the way I do.
