My pastor mentioned last night that he thinks children worry less than adults, because children have their parents taking care of them. A generalization, it’s true, but even teenagers with all their angst usually don’t have to worry about how the rent is paid or where the next meal is coming from. (If they did, they wouldn’t have time to worry about whether their haircut is a week out of fashion.)
In the same way, if we adults know God as our father, we can be relieved of much of our anxiety. God has been trying to teach us this for a long time. Remember the manna: you could gather only enough for one day’s needs for your family (except for two days’ worth before the Sabbath). If you tried to store more, it would rot before morning.
