Sex After Christianity - Gay marriage is not just a social revolution but a cosmological one.
The American Conservative ^ | Rod Dreher

Posted on 04/16/2014 4:06:41 AM PDT by don-o

Twenty years ago, new president Bill Clinton stepped on a political landmine when he tried to fulfill a campaign promise to permit gay soldiers to serve openly. Same-sex marriage barely registered as a political cause; the country was then three years away from the Defense of Marriage Act and four years from comedian Ellen DeGeneres’s prime-time coming out.

Then came what historians will one day recall as a cultural revolution. Now we’re entering the endgame of the struggle over gay rights and the meaning of homosexuality. Conservatives have been routed, both in court and increasingly in the court of public opinion. It is commonly believed that the only reason to oppose same-sex marriage is rank bigotry or for religious reasons, neither of which—the argument goes—has any place in determining laws or public standards.

The magnitude of the defeat suffered by moral traditionalists will become ever clearer as older Americans pass from the scene. Poll after poll shows that for the young, homosexuality is normal and gay marriage is no big deal—except, of course, if one opposes it, in which case one has the approximate moral status of a segregationist in the late 1960s.

A world full of hollow men. This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but with a whimper.

Great article, Thanks.

It explains we are witnessing the death of a culture without anything of civilizing influence taking its place.

Here is a thought. God created the heavens and earth and all that exists.

Sodomites of every variety (LGBTQ) deny the creation and the Creator.

They are lawless and they celebrate their condition. It seems every new TV series has to have a queer in the cast.

God did not create Adam and Steve. And, sodomites were in existence from the beginning. It is in the Bible and God’s judgment was clear.

Do I know queers? Yes. Are they mistreated by me? No. Do I have any illusions about what they are doing relative to God’s just laws? No.

So, if you believe in God and trust His word, you know where God stands on the issue. Queers blaspheme God and his creation. Sorry.

The day has come when when to say or think what I just wrote will land you in jail, charged with a “hatecrime”. Many people wonder when the persecution of Christians will begin and what it will look like. It will look like this and it will be mandated, by law, in response to the “haters” who will not approve of this age-old disease of sodomy.

The re-education camps also referred to as public and increasingly private schools are creating a generation of mind-numbed robots who just cannot bring themselves to muse upon or even have a non-politically correct thought.

Then God, who will not be mocked, will visit His justice on mankind. And, mankind will curse their Creator while they are being judged.

You can look it up.

Pope Benedict named the core problem: relative morality.

It is a done deal, took 30 years of doing it but was accomplished. I believe it started in our schools where progressives insured we raised a new generation of children that accepted homosexuality and same sex marriage.

I believe that their next target will be the Second Amendment.

Many societies have survived legalized prostitution, but granting legal status to same-sex "marriages" and treating them as equivalent to traditional marriage is something new.

The Romans had no problem with prostitution, but when the emperor Nero went through a marriage ceremony with his boy "favorite," the Romans thought it was ridiculous. Some of them wished Nero's father had had the same sort of marriage.

I wonder what has happened, that over the past few decades, the idea that people who are mentally ill in a sexuality related matter should be treated as if they are completely normal.

Part of what happened is that the American Psychiatric Association’s Board of Trustees - the group that revises and approves the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, was gradually infiltrated by homosexuals. Once they had the votes, they made the part of the DSM that offended them simply go away.

Yep. That’s exactly what happened.

They call “normal,” people who literally “eat sh*@ and die.” I’m comforted by the fact that God will give those reprobates just exactly what they deserve, unless they repent: eternal, merciless torture. God is not mocked.

The modern visible church is much to blame. They preach a god that’s all love all the time. But the One True God is love and wrath too. People don’t throw themselves into hell, God casts them there:

Luk 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
Luk 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

People used to know this, but the visible church keeps telling them that god is passive, pleading and powerless in the face of the “almighty” sinner. A sort of indulgent grandfather. All lies. But because of this, men no longer have a healthy fear of God. Men used to NOT be as bad as they could be, for fear of how terrible their hell would be. Those brakes are gone.

The everlasting or eternal gospel is this:

Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Since research into the causes of sexuality-based mental illness continues, research into treatments will follow. Once these illnesses can be treated, maybe some of these absurdities (like legalizing "gay marriage", whatever that is) will disappear?

I don't thin so. The seedbed which has grown these noxious weeds was prepared over many many years. And a critical mass of minds have been corrupted.

As evidence, I direct us to the parents' recent uproar in Charlotte over a Catholic nun speaking on Catholic "theology of the body" and cause / effect studies on environment and behavior. My takeaway was that Sister touched nerves among a segment of the parents and rather than deal with her information, the long knives came out.

It was only after I searched for other commentary that I realized that the article was originally published in 2013.

“exDemMom: Once these illnesses can be treated, maybe some of these absurdities (like legalizing “gay marriage”, whatever that is) will disappear?”

That’s why another one of their burgeoning projects is making reparative therapy illegal, so people won’t discover what is going on with the homosexual orientation. They’ve already succeeded in California and New Jersey (Thanks Christi !).

To find out what is actually going on with the homosexual orientation, I point anyone interested toward the work of Dr. Joseph Nicolosi.

“Scotus imposed homosexual rights on an unwilling nation.”

Unwilling? That’s where you’re wrong, I’m afraid.

The country as a whole is in favor of homosexual rights. Even most red states are internally split 50/50 at best.

We need to honestly explore why and how we lost that war, in the hopes that we might still salvage a battle here and there. Recognizing where the country actually stands is an important element in that.

I looked up Dr. Joseph Nicolosi on PubMed. Unfortunately, none of the articles are open access, so I couldn’t read beyond the abstracts.

This point is very on-target:

“In a dinner conversation not long after the publication of American Grace, Putnam told me that Christian churches would have to liberalize on sexual teaching if they hoped to retain the loyalty of younger generations. This seems at first like a reasonable conclusion, but the experience of America’s liberal denominations belies that prescription. Mainline Protestant churches, which have been far more accepting of homosexuality and sexual liberation in general, have continued their stark membership decline.

“It seems that when people decide that historically normative Christianity is wrong about sex, they typically don’t find a church that endorses their liberal views. They quit going to church altogether.”

Religion has no place in determining our laws? Well, it looks like we're going to have to repeal the laws against murder and theft.

Don’t forget the laws requiring fathers to pay child support as well.

Even pagan Ancient Roman society put more restraints upon it that our post-modern Western society does: From this Lutheran(LCMS) blog- http://steadfastlutherans.org/?p=34693 "Thesis #2: Society is relatively ignorant of what scripture says on the issue of homosexuality, especially within its historical context If homosexuality is not to be singled out and/or removed from this list, could it be that Paul isn’t talking about homosexuality; maybe the passage isn’t interpreted or translated correctly? Examining the usage of the words μαλακoι and απσεvoκoιται are extremely valuable to the discussion and questions at hand for it reveals an important historical context for us to assess. You see, in the Romans Empire during the time of Paul ‘active’ homosexuality conducted by a Roman Citizen was tolerated when the ‘passive’ recipient was not a Roman Citizen. In other words, homosexual acts were not tolerated when the passive recipient was a Roman Citizen (i.e., it was not appropriate for a Roman Citizen to be penetrated in a homosexual way, but a Roman Citizen could penetrate a non-Roman Citizen). Thus, it could be said that the Roman Empire in the first-century had moral restraint on the ethics of homosexual activities. Indeed, it was inappropriate for a Roman Citizen to engage passively in homosexual activity, but not actively. Why is this important to understand? It is important to understand because Paul, knowing the Roman Empire’s homosexual ethics, uses two distinct words in talking about and condemning homosexuality; he uses both the words μαλακoι and απσεvoκoιται in his 1 Corinthian list. In other words, Paul not only condemns passive homosexuality (μαλακoι) as the Romans did, but he also uses the word απσεvoκoιται to condemn active homosexuality. Thus, Paul irrefutably rejects both the passive and active acts of homosexuality in his letter to Corinth."

You might enjoy this:

http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/204/81-words

It’s from WBEZ, Chicago’s National Public Radio affiliate, but it’s very good. It tells the story of “...how the American Psychiatric Association decided in 1973 that homosexuality was no longer a mental illness.”

There was absolutely zero scientific evidence at the time pointing toward it’s removal from the DSM-IV. 41 years later there still is no evidence supporting that removal.

It’s a great listen and surprisingly honest for a liberal show.

Have you heard this from post #39?

I like using it with liberals as they don’t know what they don’t know and it’s from a liberal source.
