Shouldn't Bible-believing church leaders be speaking up on "sainthood"? (vanity)

Posted on 04/27/2014 3:47:28 PM PDT by Faith Presses On

With it so much in the news right now that the Catholic Church is making two former Popes "saints." shouldn't Bible-believing Christians, and those in leadership in particular, be pointing out the Bible truth on who is a saint is? The media won't do this themselves, and the Catholic use of "saint" has caused a lot of ignorance on this most important matter.

Catholics use the term "saint," (i.e., holy), in the sense that you probably do, and in the additional sense of Church-recognized saints.

The Church teaches that we cannot know with certainty that any particular person is in heaven or hell, unless that information is revealed to us directly by God or through his Church.

So, while there are probably countless saints in heaven, there are also a limited number that are formally declared so.

Their baptisms are useless. The first Baptism is what is important.

I have seen so many anti-Catholic’s on this site over the years its truly mind boggling.

But they are in strange company as the only people I know who hate Catholics as much are hard core leftists.

Of course their (Mormon) baptism is useless. Just like your Catholic baptism.

Look. The Bible is quite clear and specific on baptism.

Ephesians 4:5-6

King James Version (KJV)

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Just wait until they start quoting scripture to you and showing off their mad HTML skills by putting the words of Jesus in red. They insist it’s proof that they are more holier than thou. As a Protestant I’m often embarrassed by those on this site that also profess to be. The Catholic threads are much more pleasant.

Roman Catholicism is a religion of control freaks. They will NEVER let you go.

Based on what happened to you without your consent as a baby, they will claim you as long as you live.

Any marks on my soul have been washed by the blood of Jesus and I am FREE. No man nor no organization owns me any more nor can they claim to.

As has been stated, Catholics do a lot of silly things. It’s not out job to fix them. If they want to spiritualize Scripture and ignore its obvious, plain meaning; let them have at it.

It’s never our place, as Christians, to impose beliefs.

What are ya, man? Some kind of heretic or something? Jesus was always out imposing his beliefs on the Samaritans. Oh wait . . .

**Just like your Catholic baptism.**

Whoever told you that? Some preacher who hates Catholics or some unnamed pamphlet?

Christ, founded the Catholic Church on the Apostles telling them in Matthew to “Go out to all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. It’s right there in Scripture.

Why don’t you believe that Scripture?

Catholic use of "saint" has caused a lot of ignorance on this most important matter.

The Catholic Church and Sainthood are synonymous, so if you are "ignorant on this important matter" you are not Catholic and it is really none of your concern.

If you are not a practicing Catholic, why would you care what the internals of the Church are?

Not true. Christ when he talked about eating his flesh and drinking his blood, let the unbelieving disciples go. And so do we. However, it is a duty to tell the truth and invite them back to the Church.

I’ve done that with you, too.

But the good thing is that, being unwillingly Catholic, you can be prayed out of Purgatory.

Catholics have so many cool nuances that aren’t in the Bible!

I am in the same situation that usconservative is. I see it kind of similar to what happened when I was sworn in as a US citizen, I had to deny allegiance to any other country, government... The day I walked down the isle in that Baptist church, confessed my belief and accepted Jesus as the Lord and Savior of my life, I broke allegiance to the RCC. My infant baptism, of which I had nothing to do, became superseded by this new baptism. Since I was in my 30s, I did it with full knowledge of what it meant.

Of course I don't "hate" Catholics, the rest of my family in Spain is Catholic. But I am not worried about finding out that I was a Catholic and didn't live like one, because I know I am not.

We should learn from the persecuted Church. They don't emphasize their theological differences, they are just Christians.

You said that baptism leaves an indelible mark on the soul.

That is not *not letting someone go*.

That is trying to claim their soul for eternity.
