Shouldn't Bible-believing church leaders be speaking up on "sainthood"? (vanity)

I don’t tell anyone they have to join the church I attend to get to heaven because salvation is through the person of Jesus Christ, not a religious denomination.

Exactly!

Since it’s publicly done in Jesus’ name, is contrary to God’s Word, and sows ignorance and confusion, it’s the concern of every Christian.

That appears to be the origin of this thread.

Well, it is not like I’m not well known by a large number of Catholics here, in FR. My first post was a mistake, I didn’t realize it was a Catholic caucus. When everybody was polite and genuinely interested in a debate I felt free to post in another CC! I don’t intend to make a habit of it, but I really did appreciate the behavior of the posters who answered to my comment.

Jesus message is lost when error is taught and not corrected, Doctrine is more important than anything, we need to know what to believe before we can believe.

Acts 9:26 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.
Acts 9:27 But Barnabas took him, and brought [him] to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
Acts 9:28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.
Acts 9:29 And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

shouldn't Bible-believing Christians, and those in leadership in particular, be pointing out the Bible truth on who is a saint is?

I am not Catholic any more but my first reaction to your comment is - what business is it of yours who the Catholic church picks as Saints?

“I’m not Catholic and its not my place to try to impose my beliefs on them.”

All born-again Christians are saints, and that’s clear in the Bible. When saints are referred to in the Bible, the reference always is to all the Christians.

Making up stuff to decree pretend “saints” is not scriptural in any way. It’s like the Wizard handing out courage. Stating what’s correct is not “imposing your beliefs on them”; it’s doing the right thing. Trying to FORCE someone to believe a certain way would be wrong, but simply stating the truth is a Christian’s duty. Just remember that people will have to answer for opportunities to spread the Gospel that they didn’t take.

Yours is the answer to the questions. Since no one else replied to you, I thought I would. I am an Orthodox Christian. We have our “official” saints too, along with some we share with the West. I am, or at least hope to be, counted among the saints. That is what the Scriptures and the Church teach. But I also recognize that there have been extraordinary Christian people that whose examples I can learn from. Some of them will have “St.” before their names and some won’t. I have read the big biography of Pope St. John Paul II. I have always admired him for his public work. The biography taught me something of the inner man, his spiritual discipline, etc. That is what made the greatest impression on me.

“who is a saint is”

I guess it depends on what the meaning if the word “is” is.

Seriously. Get a life.

You are still a Catholic, though,

No, I am not.

though, because your mark of Baptism does not go away.

The "mark of baptism" was not my choice. Read your Bible, salvation is a CHOICE. I as an infant could not choose, and my parents cannot do that for me. I am saved because I CHOSE to accept Jesus Christ as my savior, and was baptized as an ADULT at an age of accountability.

The rest of your post I'm not going to bother with, other than to repeat I AM NOT A CATHOLIC.

And I guess some Mormon doing some baptism for the dead ritual means that you and I THOUGHT Aunt Sue died a _________.

But nope. She’s a Mormon now.
