And we’re all making it to heaven

............................

Even us proddies! Yes. I’ve been told that Catholics have allowed that non Catholics can go to Heaven.

You wouldn’t have a Bible or the “Word”, had it not been for the Catholic Church. They pretty much own the intellectual property...

Nonsense. The RCC did not write the OT nor did it write the NT as the Catholic church wasn't around for a few hundred years.

GOD, not the Roman *church*, is responsible for giving us HIS word.

“Since all the Books were already compiled before Constantine and the Churches already were telling people what is real, and all Constantine did was put a stamp on it, tell me just how the RCC had anything to do with something that it had nothing to do with?”

Your willfully ignorant in such matters. I see no need to even talk to you on this subject.

I did speak up... on two threads labelled “Catholic Caucus”. I must give them credit for having a civilized conversation with me instead of telling me that I was not allowed to post in those threads.

Well, that's a first.

The saints in your opinion would be whom? Does mother Theresa fit the Bill? She saved so many sick, poor and helpless.
Does John Paul 2 who fought the Godless communists from the pulpit while in Poland and risked soviet reprisals for his faith count ?

Maybe Martin Luther because he nailed his thesis to the cathedral? Sounds like destruction of property to me, but hey, the Catholic Church needed a kick in the pants at that time, selling indulgences etc.

In my RC parochial grade school, we were taught that saints were the people who made it to heaven. Those are the only saints. All others including those who have been given the title ‘Saint’. Are only given a title here on earth. They may or may not really be saints.

Wow. How condescending of them to rub elbows with the unwashed.

I was not reading your religious forum, but rather skimming all posts.

It’s funny, the only forum where I get nasty responses telling me not to read, is the RF. You guys are the least Christian people on FR.

I’m just afraid that when I get to heaven I’m going to have all the saints asking me; “Hey man. How come you didn’t pray to me?”

I think you are referring to the Catholic’s use of “Patron Saints,” which seem to come into being once one of these people is made a “Saint.”

“Patron Saints” are supposedly entities you can pray to to intercede on your behalf with God. Although not biblical in any way, these entities can ‘put in a good word’ for you if, for instance, you are an “Anesthetist” and need help with your patient dosing (pray to Saint Rene Goupil) or if you have an issue with fuzzy caterpillars (pray to Magnus of Füssan), or even if you wanted to levitate (pray to any of these: http://saints.sqpn.com/saints-who-had-the-gift-of-levitation/).

Catholics get a lot more “bang for their bucks” than Protestants. Protestants merely pray to God through Christ.

Catholics appear to have a lot more "crazy" fun with God.

“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’ “

43 And when an unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry places seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith: I will return into my house from whence I came out. And coming he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then he goeth, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is made worse than the first. So shall it be also to this wicked generation.

Catholics have always done the sainthood thing and Its never been an issue for me. If anything I think the stories behind the individual saints contain some great Christian messages.

A personal favorite is the story of Saint Maurice who led a Roman legion but as a Christian refused to offer sacrifice to the Roman pagan gods and then refused to attack Christians.

Catholics believe that anyone who dies in the good Grace of God is a saint

________________________________

If that’s true then why are they having this discussion right now over making two previous popes saints?

Saints are those who have repented of their sins and received the Holy Spirit by faith

just like the Bible says

Not all saints live Holy lives, but it should be evident by their lives they are Saints

Not all saints did miracles, but the RCC demands 2 miracles to prove someone is a saint.

The answer to the questions below is NO:
1Cor 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
1Cor 12:29 [Are] all apostles? [are] all prophets? [are] all teachers? [are] all workers of miracles?
1Cor 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
1Cor 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

No, not all do miracles, yet Paul calls them saved, saints, set apart ones.

The RCC has established many doctrines that are just not Biblical...just as modern protestantism has.

Both are liberal now, it seems, I still believe the best you’re going to get is a Bible Church or an independent Baptist Church, but even they are falling aside and becoming laxidaisical

Our time of judgement is coming, and quickly, our nation needs to repent of their sins and fall on their faces before God and repent and get saved.

Neither the RCC or mainstream Protestantism will teach them that

To: Repeat Offender

Its that the people on this “religious” thread do hardly anything but dump on the way others practice. If it’s not calling out catholics, it’s complaining about Mormons. There is more time on here spent calling out others and so little time finding common ground.

The message of Jesus is lost in the Babel like debates about our differences.
