Now the Supreme Authority of the Church has declared that it has been proved to its satisfaction that their sanctity is worthy of the name saint and the veneration of the Catholic world. "its satisfaction" seems to come around pretty easily these days, like a dime a dozen. What happened to the traditional process, where a scrupulously conducted examination of merit went on for decades, if not centuries (and wasn't run like a papal popularity contest)?

People need not have to have devotion to these individuals, but they do need to have faith in Christ and the promise He made to His Church and be docile to an act of the Magisterium that is to be definitively held: that Pope St. John XXIII and Pope St. John Paul II are to be inserted alongside Pope St. Pius X and Pope St. Pius V in the catalogue of Pope-saints. Yes, because Pius X and Pius V totally would have kissed Korans or taken part in Assisis.
But, hey I'm one of "those" traditionalists.

“Jihadi-traditionalist”? Did the author borrow this silly pejorative from the “Pope Francis Little Book of Insults” or did he dream it up all on his own? And how is it cowardice to voice distaste regarding the transparently obvious politicization of the canonisation process? Since when is rational observation disobedient, or indicative of a utopian mindset? And how does penning a gratuitous attack on fellow Catholics who raised concerns regarding the undeniable scandals and damage to the Church presided over by these Popes differ from the divisive behavior of which he accuses others? This article makes very little sense.

Catholic FReepers seem to have almost as much disdain for Catholic traditionalists as they do Fundamentalist Protestants. It couldn’t possibly be because they reject the concept of actual changelessness, could it? [/sarcasm]

Instead of following the model of great heroes such as Cardinal Siri, Cardinal Mindszenty, Cardinal Oddi, Fr. Hardon, and countless other priests and laity in their obedience and fidelity to the Roman Churchs Supreme Pastor, they make themselves de facto judges of his decisions an attitude St. Pius X condemned.Thinking themselves more Catholic than the Pope.
