Pope Francis privately visited the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome this morning to pray and entrust to the Virgin Mary his pilgrimage to the Holy Land. After 15 minutes of meditation and prayer before the image of Mary known as Salus Populi Romani, Pope Francis offered a bouquet of white and yellow roses at the feet of the Virgin. Since the beginning of his papal ministry in March 2013, this is the eighth visit Pope Francis has made to the Virgin Mary, under whose protection he has placed his pontificate. Speaking to Vatican Radio, the archpriest of the basilica, Spanish Cardinal Santos Abril y Castello, explained that Pope Francis sees Mary as a maternal guide and inspiration for his actions.

Through the Holy Spirit Mary was the mother of Jesus. How long has it been since you have read ALL of Luke 1?

Biological mother, surrogate mother... we are still talking about Jesus the man. The objection raised to your post is that you said "Mary is the Mother of God". I agree with Old Yeller that God does not have a mother.

Let's be honest, Christians have been discussing this since the first century, so I don't expect to change your mind and you sure are not going to change mine. Good night!

Those 15 promises came within the how to pray the rosary instruction booklet I received..

The book is published by the Fatima center in Constable NY... Fatima.org i is their particular website..

They are either her words, or some person... either way, they were handed out with rosary beads...

And somebody is lying...

And it isn’t our Heavenly Father or the Messiah of Israel, His only begotten Son...

Read those for yourself and test them like I have,..

You may want to have a look at a KJV so that you know what you are talking about, although I would strongly recommend the New King James. You will find out that it has cross references and footnotes (although briefer than the ones in my Catholic Bible). If you look at a study Bible it's the same, more footnotes.

I used to feel like that, I could only have "my" version of the Bible or else... Now I have Bibles from other denominations, the Book of Mormon... How else can I witness to someone if I don't know where they are coming from?

I’ve already explained it: Jesus Christ is God and Mary is His Mother. Jesus referred to Mary as His Mother from His Cross and He also addressed God, the Father, from the same Cross.

What part of the above do you deny?

“First, you don’t have the entire Bible if you are using the KJV.”

Back at ya... you just shared an opinion. It is no more valid than someone telling you that if you have more than the KJV, you have included non-inspired books.

“Catholic Bibles have approved footnotes that have been there by scripture scholars. Study bibles have even more.”

Note the footnotes are not inspired.

“BTW, if you are a baptized Catholic you will ALWAYS be a Catholic. Your baptismal mark does not go away. Were you also confirmed in the Catholic Church?”

Not a thing in Scripture about a “baptismal mark”.

Do you own a Koran also?

You don't seem to that confident in whatever faith you profess.

The part you added... [disclaimer: it's late. Maybe I'm overlooking something.]

"When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, "Woman, here is your son,"

If Mary was the surrogate mother, who was the biological mother?

Are you Scott Hahn?

His Word is truth.

Proving lies with His Word and the Word that became flesh isnt brilliant analysis- it is simply testing the spirits as the apostles called us to do in Scripture.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but the spirits, whether they are of Yah; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.. 1 John 4:1

And this is a false prophetess..

Are you saying Jesus is not God? If not, when did "the man" become God?

Actually I am waiting to see how to get a free one, LOL! You don't think I paid a penny for the Book of Mormon, did you? Owning a book does not mean you agree with it, otherwise I would have burned The Message years ago.

Confident? I am confident enough to know that I am in my Lord's grip, that He won't let go off me, and that He will call me home either by death or rapture before the Time of Jacob's Trouble begins. I am confident enough to have lost 2 jobs when Christianity was supposed to be kept "hidden and private", knowing that He would take care of me and my family. I am confident enough to know that I don't need any works on my part to be saved, just believe in Him who gave His life for me and accept Him as the Lord of my life.

Are you expecting me to be able to explain how Jesus is fully God and fully man? Maybe then you can explain how God is one and three? There are some things that our puny little minds cannot comprehend, so we accept them by faith.

I do not see where He referred to her as anything other than “woman”, perhaps you can show me a passage where he referred to Mary as His mother, as you claimed.

No. I just don’t understand why Protestants don’t consider Mary to be the Mother of Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity.

See post 107. “Mother” is mentioned three times.
