Nancy Pelosi Urges S.F. Archbishop to Exit Marriage March
San Francisco Gate ^ | 6/14/14 | Carla Marinucci

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi took the lead this week in a high-profile lobbying effort to pressure San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone not to attend the controversial March for Marriage event, which she characterized as "venom masquerading as virtue."

Pelosi, who is one of the country's most powerful Catholic politicians, made a passionate appeal to the archbishop in a letter obtained by The Chronicle not to participate in the National Organization for Marriage's June 19 march on the Supreme Court in Washington.

Cordileone, who is one of the featured speakers at the event, was a leader in the campaign for Proposition 8, the 2008 California anti-gay-marriage initiative.

"We share our love of the Catholic faith and our city of San Francisco," Pelosi wrote to Cordileone, who, as head of the 560,000-member Archdiocese of San Francisco, has become the Catholic bishops' point man against gay marriage. She urged him to abandon an event in which some of the participants show "disdain and hate towards LGBT persons.

We’ve got popes praying with Muslims and kissing Korans. What do you expect?

Just a sprinkle of holy water would do the trick.

Good point.

“At some point the Church either excommunicates Palosi or becomes Pelosi’s handmaiden.”

Too late; any concentration of “Catholics” can be safely relied on to deliver Democrat votes.

An ashamed American Catholic (God bless General Franco)

Nancy Pelosi has less claim to being an actual Catholic than King Kong had to being a ballet dancer. Archbishop Cordileone should formally excommunicate the apostate witch.

You seem to be complaining about Pope Saint John Paul II. May I remind you that Saint JP II excommunicated the late despicable SSPX archschismatic Archbishop Marcel LeFebvre and that Lefebvre remained excommunicated through his death? He also declared SSPX a schism and that part of his decree has never been lifted either, nor should it be. Got along without ‘em before we met ‘em. Gonna get along without ‘em now!

Invoking the words of Pope Francis with regard to gays and lesbians, she wrote, "If someone is gay and is searching for the Lord and has good will, then who am I to judge him?" The gift that keeps on giving.

there is nothing sinful in being gay...a gay lifestyle is, on the other hand, sinful....as is artificial birth control, divorce and remarriage, not attending Mass weekly......and the list goes on!!!

Yes, it is interesting that JPII excommunicated a man that was more Catholic than most of the Novus Ordites put together. It’s pretty clear how the Novus Ordo/Vatican II hierarchy views and treats Traditionalist Catholics. Francis continues in that “tradition”.

I agree!

I am getting so damned fed up with the bishops not standing up for the church. I regards to our new Pope, I have never seen so much division among Catholics this man is bringing upon the church.

I worry greatly as to where we are headed as a Catholic Church.

I am a Traditionalist Catholic who now attends the Tridentine Mass at an Oratory of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. I did not feel at all persecuted by the Vatican of John Paul I, St. John Paul II or Benedict XVI. I did feel that Benedict XVI was overly generous to Fellay, de Mallerais and the other living schismatic SSPX ring leaders by lifting their excommunications. Naturalloy, they responded by biting him for not obeying their "orders" to a pope no less.

I am less thrilled by Francis but perhaps God is punishing us mildly as occurs from time to time (John XXIII and Paul VI, for example).

In saner times, however, Marcel LeFebvre and his cult love slaves would have been burned at the stake and rightfully and justly so. "Tradition" does not consist in disobeying, despising and badmouthing solid popes like St. John Paul II, as you well know. If not, go form a "church" of your own. It is my hope that SSPX will NEVER be allowed back into "good standing" with the Vatican.

Oh, and one more thing, the Novus Ordo Mass may be a liturgical low rent district but it IS a valid Mass and has regrettably become normative. SSPX and other schismatic groups have done more damage than good, by far. The infernal tongue of de Mallerais, the Holocaust denial of Williamson, the all purpose dishonesty and disobedience of LeFebvre make legitimate attempts at restoration far more difficult than they should be.

And that’s where you and I disagree. JPII was not a solid pope. Kissing a Koran, praying with non-Catholic religions at Assisi, and asking true Catholic Saints to protect the diabolical sect of Islam (just to name a few) are not the actions of a Catholic, saintly pope. You may call yourself a Traditionalist but you too have been infected by the Modernist Vatican.

If and when God dies (not possible) and leaves you or Marcel's infernal love slaves in charge (not possible), maybe the Marcel cult will gain more attention and become as troublesome as Call to Action, Association of Women Priests (a contradiction in terms) and an assortment of other pope haters whose motives differ from the SSPX schismatic cult but who snuggle up to the antipapal tactics of the SSPX schismatics.

BTW, the term "schismatic" is not a term of congratulation. Don't like actual Roman Catholic Church headquartered in the Vatican (not Econe) as is TRADITIONAL??? Go start your own cult of Marcel, call it whatever you like OTHER THAN CATHOLIC which you are not, and LEAVE formally on the well-trodden path of many centuries of other irreconcilable dissidents and malcontents.

My Savior promised to be with the Church all days unto the end of the world. Protestants have the personal and moral integrity not to claim to be Catholic because they are not. They are separated brethren as are the cult members of SSPX. The SSPX might improve their moral standing by emulating the honest Protestants in honestly conceding that SSPX has no standing in the Church and wants none.

Those who continue to believe that the Vatican II Church upholds tradition are the ones who are not honest...and not truly Catholic.

So you say. When you have a pope in the Vatican, be sure to get in touch. Until then, you, like SSPX, are braying in the wilderness. BTW, if the actual Pope Saint Pius X were available on earth here and now, he would make short and final disposition of the LeFebvrite cult. See Pascendi Domenici Gregis (8/1907) and its accompanying Syllabus of Errors: Lamentabile Sane (7/1907).

Those of us who disagree with you, ummmm, disagree with you since we stand with the Vatican and with the popes and set a standard by which you likely will be judged since the popes have the keys and you folks do not.

One last question: When Jesus Christ promised to be with the Church until the consummation of the world, did he mean the Roman Catholic Church or the long distant yet to be created cult of Marcel the stiff-necked taste master whose "eighth sacrament" was defiance of the successors of St. Peter whenever they might have disagreed with the regal majesty of Marcel the self-worshiper and self-indulgent?

Marcel died `apparently unrepentant and defiant to the end. Will you?

LOL. You are pointing to Pascendi to support your heretical Vatican II teachings and “popes”? No real Traditionalist Catholic could ever do that. You’re just another Vatican II “Catholic”.

Jesus Christ will remain with the Catholic Church, but the Catholic Church remains true to Jesus Christ and His Teachings. Vatican II does not remain true to Jesus Christ and His Church’s teachings.
