I thought that was Islam and Scientology.

From Muslims and Latter-day Saints

"Muslims and Latter-day Saints both recognize that after the coming of Jesus, divisions and apostasy arose in the Christian church. The Quran teaches: "Those apostles We endowed with gifts, some above others: To one of them Allah spoke; others He raised to degrees (of honour); to Jesus the son of Mary We gave clear (Signs), and strengthened him with the holy spirit. If Allah had so willed, succeeding generations would not have fought among each other, after clear (Signs) had come to them, but they (chose) to wrangle, some believing and others rejecting. If Allah had so willed, they would not have fought each other; but Allah Fulfilleth His plan."[28] Latter-day Saints recognize the departure of many Christians from the teachings of the Apostles and the loss of divine authority in the Church, as well as the restoration of God's church through the prophet Joseph Smith.

Latter-day Saints and Muslims acknowledge that writings in the Bible, while inspired and truthful, underwent some changes as they passed through the hands of careless scribes and translators and conniving priests. Latter-day Saints and Muslims also recognize that many doctrines of non-LDS Christianity come not from the Bible, but from various creeds and non-apostolic works of the so-called 'early church fathers,' as well as from pagan Greek and Roman traditions. Latter-day Saints do not accept the non-biblical creeds widely regarded by other Christian faiths.

“Stop making up your own rules and try preaching the Gospel of Christ for a change.”

That is very good advice.

On the other side of the coin if a Church has members who are advocating that gay marriage and all of that is ok and should be recognized as godly they should be excommunicated.

The Bible tells us that Church members are there to help keep the Church running smooth,

The apostles Chose members who were very serious about living for God and preaching the Gospel

Mormonism is Scientology but less expensive.

The rank and file LDS are also much nicer and less crazy than Scientologists who seem to be pure evil and robotic.

Considering the stupidity of LDS and Scientology "doctrine," I would put them about equal. "Evil" is subjective. I would not call Scientologists or Mormons evil. I'd say all humanity is utterly depraved and evil from a divine sense, at least.

The LDS, at least its leadership, destroy families, practice shunning, and engage in mind control. This is no different than the Scientologists, with the exception that the Scientologists have higher production values.

If the LDS Church truly is the Church of Jesus Christ with a latter day prophet at it’s head, then why would this bother you?

It doesn't. Actually I like the LDS since they provide such an easy target.

Part of the reason why you believe in this whole three-in-one, one-in-three multiple personality godhead is due to man contaminating the words of past prophets.

Because Jews and Christians for thousands of years "corrupted" their Bibles to root out polytheism. The Pagans were right all along, I guess!

I seem to remember a contingent of Mormons physically "took control" of Howard Hughes in his last demented years (to protect him).

I wonder what ever happened to all of the assets of the Hughes financial empire.

...Otterson said, "the church has to protect the integrity of its doctrine as well as other members from being misled."

You CAN'T make this stuff up!

The punishment for this kind of expose of mormon doctrine is the withholding of "temple recommends" that allow members to take part in arcane rituals that in mormon belief are necessary for salvation.

Temple Recommend Questions

1 Do you have faith in and a testimony of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost?

2 Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Christ and of His role as Savior and Redeemer?

3 Do you have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel in these the latter days?

4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?

5 Do you live the law of chastity?

6 Is there anything in your conduct relating to members of your family that is not in harmony with the teachings of the Church?

7 Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

8 Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?

9 Are you honest in your dealings with your fellowmen?

10 Are you a full-tithe payer?

11 Do you keep the Word of Wisdom?

12 Do you have financial or other obligations to a former spouse or children? If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?

13 If you have previously received your temple endowment:

Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple?
Do you wear the garment both night and day as instructed in the endowment and in accordance with the covenant you made in the temple?

14 Have there been any sins or misdeeds in your life that should have been resolved with priesthood authorities but have not been?

15 Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house and participate in temple ordinances?
