According to anti-Catholics, St. Josemaria Escriva once said:

“I would prefer a million times that a daughter of mine die without the Last Sacraments than that they be administered to her by a Jesuit.”

I have no idea if he ever said that, but a number of anti-Catholic websites have that quote - no source is given of course so I have no idea if it is an accurate quote.

If it were an accurate quote, it would reflect a deficient understanding of the Sacraments, which hardly seems reasonable. Unless it was a joke ... but I’ve read a couple of books and various Bible commentaries of Fr. Escriva’s, and humor was not prominent.

One never knows about people, of course ...
