Town Bans Christians From Using Publicly Funded Facilities!
Mad World ^ | July 4, 2014 | Brandon Walker

A town has banned Christians from using publicly funded facilities.

When people talk about Christian persecution, most people picture the Middle East, Asia, or Africa. Most people don’t expect something as shocking as this right in the Northern Hemisphere.

Most people think of British Colombia as a beautiful place to vacation. I must admit, I spent some time there myself when I lived in the North East. Nobody would expect the tourist rich town of Nanaimo to pull a stunt like this, so full of hatred and arrogance.

Just days before a Christian Convention was to be hosted at this city’s convention center, the city council voted to cancel it. In fact, the city council meeting turned into one big bigoted rant. They started claiming the Convention Center and public areas Christian free zones.

Isn’t that the province that once tried to legalize kiddie porn? They want everything to be free and open except for the people they don’t like of course.

Typical leftists.

Council has ‘regrets’ after actions perceived as discriminatory

Darrell Bellaart / Daily News
June 27, 2014 12:00 AM

Nanaimo city council has issued a clarification on its decision that led to the cancellation of a leadership event at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre last month. On May 5, council voted 8-1 (with Bill McKay as the sole exception) to advise the VICC not to permit event organizers, including the Daily News, to stage the Leadercast televised conference in the city-owned facility on May 9.

The motion passed by council condemned “events (that) promote or have a history of divisiveness, homophobia or other expressions of hate.”

The event’s U.S. sponsors included Chick-Fil-A. Dan T. Cathy, CEO of the U.S. restaurant chain, said in 2012 that he supports the “biblical definition” of marriage.

Several local religious leaders asked council for an apology and a reaffirmation that people of all faiths can use city facilities, and Ezra Levant, a political activist and a national columnist for Sun Media, lambasted council on his show The Source.

Coun. Bill Bestwick offered a personal apology for his part in the decision on Wednesday.

Council met in camera on Thursday following “reflection and subsequent discussions with members of Nanaimo’s faith community.”

The city on Thursday issued a statement saying council “regrets that its actions in passing the May 5 resolution has been perceived as being directed at or discriminatory against Christians or any other religious groups.”

Upon review of the matter, the city and council said they “fully support and are committed to upholding the fundamental rights and freedoms of all Canadians under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Human Rights Code,” the statement says.

While Charter values are to protect against discrimination, the city and its council recognize such rights “must sometimes be balanced between groups of Canadians having differing views and that the process of creating this balance is both challenging and complex.”

Council “strongly believe” people of all races, and religions “are entitled to use any facility,” says the statement.

“If presented with comparable circumstances again, Nanaimo’s current council is confident that actions similar to those taken on May 5 would not be repeated,” the statement read.

Po Lil’ Canucks were/are subjects, whereas Americans are citizens.

Events such as this illustrate why culture is determinative.

Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty

O God our Creator,
from your provident hand we have received
our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
You have called us as your people and given us
the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God,
and your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,
you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,
bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel
to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us
in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.
Give us the strength of mind and heart
to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;
give us courage in making our voices heard
on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,
a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters
gathered in your Church
in this decisive hour in the history of our nation,
so that, with every trial withstood
and every danger overcome—
for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,
and all who come after us—
this great land will always be "one nation, under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Just wait, I am waiting for social security to be denied to Christians because they MIGHT give some to their church. It is really the same principle as not allowing a school voucher to be used at a Christian school.

We REAL Christians ought to be running for office . . . is Hitlery toting her Bible on her book tour?????

Maybe there will be a day when Muslims run out of local Christian heads to cut off,
and start looking around for more. Maybe on that day they'll wonder where all
the people are to protect them, those who insulated Islam as a peaceful religion.
And then realize the error of their ways. Naw, who am I kidding, They want their own
heads chopped off last.

Have they banned Muslims or other religious people, such as Buddhists? If not, this is a clear discrimination case.

Christians should riot more often. Burn down leftists buildings and stuff.

It is the only way to get them to like us.
