My Daughter Amanda - update #218, 336

Posted on 08/14/2014 5:55:53 AM PDT by PigRigger

My heart breaks as I write this....as I have posted before....my daughter has been fighting Heroin addiction.

Yesterday....after entering sober living....she relapsed and OD'd. The medics brought her back....but we have no idea as to what to expect when we get to her....we are flying to her side as we speak...

Please pray for our daughter...pray for us...to allow for God's will and grace to find and cover her in His healing.

Thanks for sharing this photo of your brothers in Christ.

We are never alone in the Lord, and He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us.

I hope Amanda and her story will be used to help many in the future.

A future and a hope.

GM All....

Last night I was made aware of a young man named James fighting for his life in the ICU of Stony Brook University Hospital.

His condition is a result of global anoxia of the brain (lack of oxygen) brought on by alcohol abuse.

He is now coming out of a medically induced coma... but his prognosis is very uncertain.

Please pray for this young man... that he may be restored to health, that his addiction is eradicated from his life.. pray that a second chance in this life is given.

Please pray for his parents and family.... I know what they are going through... Pray they find strength and comfort in knowing that 100’s, if not 1000’s, are lifting/carrying their family in prayer...

Please pray for my daughter and I who may be visiting with them today... pray we are led by the Holy Spirit and given the words and actions that extend comfort and peace to this family in crisis.

Hug your kids and lift a prayer of thanks to God... for we are blessed each and every day we have with them...

Blessed Day All...
....For the God of Jacob is my fortress....

Amanda, my daughter, has relapsed, after a 15 month stint in rehab... she decided to go back to associate with people who abuse... and it had devastating consequences....

Her choice was a bad one.... what you surround yourself with will be what you become.... no matter how strong you think you are....

All of this culminated in a car accident a week and a half ago.... thankfully, and by the grace of God, no one was hurt.

Over the 3 weeks preceding the accident she seemed to get off the path that was keeping her grounded, focused and sober. The first two or so months were a joy (I will always treasure them)... I saw the women I know my daughter can... and will... be.

Addiction and what it brings are insidious... it turns people into what they most hate.... even as things spiraled downwards I saw her remorse... but once you take that path.... it is very hard to remove yourself from it.

As her father... I can truthfully say how proud I am of her... my love for her penetrates to the very core of my existence. I am not disappointed in her... for that I could never be... just saddened by the decisions she made without reaching out....

God calls us a new creation when we surrender to Him... so I pray my daughter will fully surrender her future as well.. her very life may depend on it....

She is back in rehab... at Women Of The Well in TN.... a sister organization of Teen Challenge. She will be there 4-6 months. I pray this time she has truly hit bottom and understands that her life may very well depend on finding deliverance.... please pray for her.

Prayers for all the people who are fighting with every ounce of their being to stay clean... may they reach out to those who can help when the waves come, because they will...

To the families... never lose hope... we have a big God.... pray... and pray unceasingly....He hears us... He will act... have faith....

Hi All:

Amanda completed her stint in Tennessee in September... has been home going on six months... she is working very hard on her sobriety/recovery... the threat of jail probably has something to do with it.

Her spiritual life has grown along with her support circle... she has been befriended by many strong women who have long term recovery under their belts... some having deep faith... it appears to be helping.

I have given up trying to understand what tomorrow will bring... this is truly the Lord's... I only pray unceasingly and love her continuously...

Here is a picture taken a few weeks ago as she attended Hillsong Church in NYC... it gives me such hope to see her happy and finding joy in recovery and the Lord...

Keep praying for her, for us... it means more than you will ever know...

Amanda is bottom right...

PigRigger, just keep faith in our lord and keep showing your beloved Amanda your love and support. Recovery is a long and hard road, and she faces a lifetime of challenges to keep herself on the right path.

But, believe me she can do it. My daughter faced the same demons and fight as your Amanda. her demon was a little different (prescription narcotics and Alcohol) but the pathway to recovery and life is the same.

We went through the same up and down path of recovery and relapse with her, and thought we had lost her many times. Her recovery periods would vary from a few months to 2-3 years, and the clean and sober years were always a blessing.

Thankfully she finally turned the corner, and while every day is still a struggle to keep the demons bottled up and imprisoned she is now married to a wonderful man, employed fulltime in a job she loves, and just passed 7 years Clean!

God will bless you and will protect your Amanda as long as she wants him to. Put your faith in him and in her.

Amanda passed the one year mark in her sobriety walk last Sunday.

In the past I would have shouted this from the roof tops... but what I have come to understand is that each day is a struggle in itself... so tomorrow must left for tomorrow... so boasting or predicting the future should be avoided for the sake of humility... Simply put, appreciate the current, temper future thoughts and trust in the Lord with all your heart, mind body and soul.

Amanda has surrounded herself with a network of support that is empowering and supportive... Many our strong women having deep faith and conviction. They also have walked the path she has. Having them speak into her life will only serve to help her as she moves forward.

She has experienced so much hardship and challenge over the years. Much was brought on by her own bad decisions and associations she chose to pursue. It has been , and still is, a hard lesson to learn and overcome... but not impossible. So those who are reading this that might be struggling... never let go of hope... just reach out... feel free to contact me if necessary.

I see a strength in her that is admirable and humbling; I am not sure how I would have held up under similar circumstances. She has always had a kind and loving heart; now conviction appears to be surfacing. I pray only now for God’s will to be done through her so His healing glory can be seen.... and that she be surrounded with God fearing and loving folks who emulate a life worth living.

I am incredibly proud of her, she has come a long way... I certainly don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds it.

Keep praying for us, it has meant so much, and has been such a weapon of comfort, peace and strength for our family.

2 Corinthans 10:4

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

Blessed Day All...!

Thanks for the wonderful update on Amanda’s progress, PR!

Great start to my day, I’ll tell you!

I was looking at my old Freepmails a few days ago, and saw one from you about Amanda, and I was reminded to pray for her.

Now, to hear such wonderful news about her, it makes me just want to praise the Lord for His goodness.

God bless you, Amanda and your whole family.

May the LORD God of Israel protect and release her from this horrible addiction, and give her grace and life everlasting.

God is good... daughter is 21 months clean and has gone back to school... starting at the local community college.

She continues to attend her meetings... almost daily... and goes to Church with me. I don’t know what tomorrow holds... but I do know who holds it!

Still a long way to go... but God has been merciful... all glory, power and honor are His... and His alone!

Please pray for me as well. Doctor found some nodules on my lungs... Very small at this time... and according to him, likely nothing (most are benign). I am going to a specialist in mid-February to get a second opinion.

Thank You All!

How wonderful to read the updates!! Nice to hear and prayers up for you all. Addictions are terrible things, dark and menacing and God’s grace is the best weapon.

Amanda recently graduated, with straight A’s, from Community College... she was accepted in a program in a very difficult university to get into... and is doing well...

Keep in mind, she was not a good student in HS.. so this academic excellence is beyond all expectations...

She is sober... with a clear mind... striving forward...

God’s mercy is beyond all we deserve it could have ever dreamed of...

TY all for your prayers... and if you have time... raise some more... and give Him thanks, honor and glory!

Happy Thanksgiving!
