You can’t be talking to the both of us, for I’m not die-hard conciliarist and JP II is no hero of mine.

That’s SAINT John Paul II to you, bub! Even I would have given you credit for being a “die-hard conciliarist” so long as we understand the council in question to be the Council of Trent as to which I am a die-hard, etc.

Rejected! I am not the one questioning Saint John Paul II’s sainthood.

That’s not true. You have defended VC II as infallible.

Now, you’re switching lanes.

Never rejected his sainthood. Just said he isn’t my hero, just like the foul-mouthed Jose Escriva isn’t my hero.

May St. John the Baptist protect Islam...

That's SAINT John Paul II who said that, hub!

I attend an Oratory of the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest. All Tridentine, all the time. We moved here from Connecticut when Bishop Thomas Doran was bishop and a very fine bishop. Our current Bishop David Malloy has disturbed none of Bishop Doran's arrangements for Tridentine Masses and Sacraments.

I live in Illinois whose bishops include Francis Cardinal George of Chicago (cleaning up the mess left by the late Bernardin), Bishop Daniel Jenky of Peoria, Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, Bishop Edward Braxton of Belleville, and Bishop R. Daniel Conlon of Joliet. Not a perfect group but not at all bad. Those Illinois presiding bishops serving when Obozo spoke at Notre Dame unanimously denounced Notre Shame. Bishop Doran suggested that it change its name to Northwest Indiana Humanist University or Fighting Irish University and that Catholic parents refuse to send their children to Notre Shame. Illinois Catholics have much for which to be thankful. If we are not up on the latest Auxiliary Bishop of Kazakhstan, perhaps we may be forgiven in light of the riches at our doorsteps. Chronic discontent is not a hallmark of Catholicism and we have little need for such.

As a conscientious parent, I consider the diocesan priest who recently yammered on about “sexual orientation” and his “personal struggles with celibacy” (which he implied that he lost) during his sermon a far more negative influence than Bishop Fellay. And JPII was far from conservative, as Assisi demonstrated. Those who are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend FSSP or diocesan TLM’s have Archbishop Lefebvre and Pope Bendict to thank for it.

Really, now? Check your first post on this thread and tell us who's the discontent one.

I doubt that since the combination of Vatican II, Saint John XXIII and Paul VI almost sent me to the American version of the Russian Orthodox Church until cooler heads prevailed upon me to stay. As a result, I have accepted that we get the popes we need and not the ones we want. Sometimes our sinfulness is punished by the election of a pope (certainly not Saint John Paul II) whose holding of the office is our punishment.

Is there not a distinction between a doctrinal council and a pastoral council? Is it not true that a doctrinal council commands assent unlike a mere pastoral council? Not to say, amidst all the verbiage produced by the documents of a pastoral council, nothing is infallible. That infallibility does not arise on the authority of such a pastoral council.

Just where am I believed to have defended Vatican II as infallible?

Meanwhile, why did the dozen founding priests of FSSP find it necessary to RETURN to the Church from SSPXland, coincidentally on July 2, 1988?

No one says that you should expose children to such a priest. OTOH, Jesus Christ chose Twelve, including Judas. If your standard is perfection, what Church other than Catholicism do you prefer? No one is stopping you!

Again #28.

Also "chronic" is an adjective modifying the noun "discontent" and particularly as to those in public sympathy with the schism of the late excommunicated Marcel.

And your problem with Saint Jose Escriva is....???? In any event, if you think he was foul mouthed, you ain’t seen nothin’ until you study on de Mallerais on the subject of Saint John Paul II.

You bring up the SSPX in every other post, even though this thread has nothing to with it.

As far as Jose Marie Escriva, look up his demand for having his female secretary spanked on the bottom after lifting up her skirt and pulling down her panties.

You have said it in the past on this website. Are you now saying VC II is fallible?

Have even they become embarrassed of your paranoia?

No one says that you should expose children to such a priest.

Nor should a child should be exposed to a photo of a pope, St. JPII, kissing a Koran, nor read his invocation to St. John the Baptist to protect Islam.
