Pope Francis, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!"
Charisma News ^ | 9/5/2014 | Jennifer LeClaire

Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.

But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:

"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.

As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...

“No one has said love for someone is idolitry.”

They sure did. You and others just love to repeat the lie that veneration for Mary and others is idolatry.

Kissing a statue or licking a dessicated skull is idolatry. It's also unsanitary and very unhygienic!

It's really gross, too!

I would expect more intelligent posts on this site but evidently, some do not measure up to that. Such a pity. My parents, teachers, relatives and friends taught me better. My mom died a few months before she was 103 and she set a marvelous example for us. She influenced many, many lives. Tis a shame y’all did not have an example like her.

You’re slipping, Narses. That must warrant a silly picture or two.

Licking a dessicated skull? Who’s doing that?

>>To be honest, when I first read the Bible I was a bit angry about all the false teaching I received from Catholicism.<<

That's a common comment from those who come out of Catholicism. I can easily understand that. I most certainly would be.

We worship God and God alone. We pray directly to Him because there is no need to go through anyone else especially the dead. In other words, we have a direct line to Him. It is a shame that some do not understand that.

That’s why Jesus said “It is finished!” Then he ripped that curtain thingy apart from top to bottom because we may now come into his presence.

Catholics have been known to kiss “holy relics” which often include severed body parts and assorted skulls and bones.

I assume some get overcome by their “love” of the “saint.” Several posters have claimed it isn’t woship but just a sign of love one might bestow on their spouse.

Of course it is appropriate to attack the Pope for his beliefs. He is a political figure, a Socialist in fact. He and his line are ripe with innovations that wander from the original Apostolic Church. It is too bad he is on the opposite side of the fence from such wonderful people as John Paul. Oh well, sell me an indulgence and I will be saved.

Okaaayyyy........

So they equate kissing dead body parts with kissing their spouse?

Such a target rich mentality but I'm going to pass on commenting on that.

Ok. Well I don’t think anyone’s licking any skull. Kissing perhaps but there’s a difference there.

You’ve seen the photos. You’ve seen them post justifications for their actions.

It’s disturbing.

Yet they claim their not pagans?

That was a bit lame. You really ought to post a silly picture to yourself.

I’m still waiting for the bear riding a unicycle.

There's not a whole lot of difference between sticking your mouth on a dessicated skull and sticking your tongue on a dessicated skull!

I don't care who you are; that's just nasty!

Catholic tradition has been changed over the years. The truth in the Bible has not. When I was in school in the good ole days, we had fish on Fridays for the 3 Catholic families in school. Then, lo and behold, they said that was no longer necessary. Then, a Kennedy wanted an annulment. He could not get one without “paying” a fee even though children were involved. I just never understood that.

Actually not. Nothing I said is untrue. Although many of my Roman Catholic friends believe I am going to Hell because I do not believe as they do, I know may Roman Catholics will be there, in Heaven, with me. I speak to the institution of the Roman Catholic church, the Progressive, Statist policies. For example, letting LGBTwhatevers march in the St. Pat parade. I was an Episcopalian until I acknowledged the world had invaded the Episcopal Church. I left. To bad many Roman Catholics will go to the grave for the Pope and not Christ. Apostate Episcopalians too.

Such things happen to those who offer themselves over to entities other than the One True God...

The whole obsession with death and dead things is beyond creepy.

What a morbid worldview.

Mary is dead so she can not help anyone. Only God can do that because He reigns.
