You mean like this>
And this?
And this?
(Iscool it is always a better policy to be honest and stick to the truth.)
Seriously, Petrine authority is exercised based on theology and sound historical and scholarly research, the very same methods of inquiry and authority for selecting the books in Scripture and discarding others. Petrine authority begins and ends all discussion. For those who don’t go pick anyone of the 35,000 cults out there from Mormons to Billy Grahams to David Koresh
Here’s just a “starter” article for you.

The Catholic Church has made it a requirement to belong to that church. That IS part of their salvation plan. Shall we simply consider those who teach that to be accursed of God then since you can't show the apostles taught it? It's looking that way.
Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.
Want to get those pagans into the church? Make up one like it.
Mary, or a female figure representing the Roman Church, holds a lightning bolt in her hand in precisely the same way as it is carried by chief dieties in the pagan mysteries.
....”Want to get those pagans into the church? Make up one like it”....
That’s exactly right....Wiccans and various other pagan worshipers also have female dieties...throughout the world...and still being worshipped today...they will easily “adapt” to catholicism’s mary seeing it’s a common way of uniting them.
And still no infallible proof that the apostles taught the assumption of Mary. All this talk about “Petrine authority” it’s like I’m listening to a Mormon or Muslim.
Ah yes! Semiramis the wife of the infamous Nimrod! God had much to say about her as the “queen of heaven”. She was supposedly assumed into heaven also if I remember correctly.
In the Religion forum, on a thread titled THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY: Condemned as Heretical by 2 Popes in the 5th and 6th Centuries, caww wrote:

It appears evident, from your link, that the “Emperor decided” to extend this throughout the country...once again revealing the partnership of the church and Rome to create a religion to combat true Christianity at that time.
Here’s a quote from your link:
For a time, the “Memory of Mary” was marked only in Palestine, but then it was extended ...’by the emperor’.... to all the churches of the East.
No doubt there’s always a rare exception to the rule...
My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.
Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.
Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.
Amen.
She became the Mother of God, in which work so many and such great good things are bestowed on her as pass man’s understanding. For on this there follows all honor, all blessedness, and her unique place in the whole of mankind, among which she has no equal, namely, that she had a child by the Father in heaven, and such a Child . . . Hence men have crowded all her glory into a single word, calling her the Mother of God . . . None can say of her nor announce to her greater things, even though he had as many tongues as the earth possesses flowers and blades of grass: the sky, stars; and the sea, grains of sand. It needs to be pondered in the heart what it means to be the Mother of God.
(Commentary on the Magnificat, 1521; in Luther’s Works, Pelikan et al, vol. 21, 326)
Simple I choose to believe in the dogma of the Assumption as illuminated in the Catechism as presented elsewhere on this thread.
And yes that is Catholic thinking and I am Catholic.
Keep in mind that most of the Catholics on this thread believe the dogma of the Assumption exactly as written.
Why does it concern you or other prots what I or any other Catholics believe?
I certainly don’t care one jot what you believe, why would you care what I believe I just find it strange.
BTW keep up the good work on ARTH, the hits you put up keep getting better and better,
For the Greater Glory of God
Please stop ‘re-posting’ my posts without a response.
The Assumption is the oldest feast day of Our Lady, but we don't know how it first came to be celebrated.
Solid foundation for the belief right there. The gospel of "it coulda been".
There is no research that proves Peter was the head of any church...
