Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

So, are you saying you know how God works it?
I believe he does. Though I’ll leave the details to Him.
DING DING DING!
There’s our winner and 3000th customer of this thread! Let’s give a big round of applause to METMOM! YAAAAAAA-AAAAAAY!!!
Mom, if you would be so kind as to nail that winning post to the FR front door, we can all go home. Or somewhere else. To get some physical exercise!
R2z
Quit posting facts, Luther invented anti-semitism despite the reality to the contrary.
The concept of the trinity comes from scripture. The hyperbol of Catholics comes from attempts to obfuscate the truth of scripture.
Luther had NOTHING to do with my conversion and salvation.
My security is not shaken by attacks on Luther as if when an RC shows Luther to be in the wrong, I will abandon my faith and become Catholic, or something ludicrous.
My faith is based on the true and sure and unchanging promises of God found in the divinely inspired word of God.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Galatians 3:6 just as Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness?
The issues will just be taken up again in a different thread. We will be called to oppose the errors until Jesus takes us home.
No kidding.
Time to get out for a walk, although the weather is not really conducive for it.
It’s cloudy and cold. Yuck.
Maybe I could post it to the front door of the nearest Catholic church........
The distinct difference is that true followers of Christ put their faith in Him alone and Catholics put their faith in fallible men who even they admit are not infallible.
Why are you so obsessed with carnal leadership? It absolutely cult like.
When I became a Christian, i had not even heard that name. I was a young teenager. So, he had absolutely nothing to do with my salvation.
No, as the requirements for baptism is that of wholehearted repentant faith, (Acts 3:28; 8:36,37) and it is incongruous that an act of such cardinal importance by the Holy Spirit would provide even one clear example of infants being baptized, and it can only be speculated that whole household baptisms included children so young as to not be able to discern their need for forgiveness by faith in the Lord Jesus.
And circumcision has limited correspondence, and covenantal distinctions that do not equate to baptizing infants when they cannot believe, as personal belief is always in conversion.
However, there is a difference in baptizing an infant in holding that this makes them a partaker of the covenant, as some hold, versus imagining that this makes them regenerate and justified by inherent holinesss. And which regeneration is not empirically manifest as in Scripture and evangelical conversion, but basically it overall makes a mockery of Scriptural regeneration.
But it is your practice to go after side issues, while ignoring the main one. You went on at length justifying the right to execute men by spiritual means, when the issue was that of the use of the sword of men, and finally you were forced to give a clear rejection of the use of the latter by the church. But at least you did, which is more than some others would so.
And then you once again indicted Luther as being against the Jews, ignoring the precedent your own church provided, by popes no less, not a reformers, though you had been shown this in response to past one-sided indictments.
And here you want to focus in Prot. paedobaptism, while the issue was the RC preoccupation with Luther, and Rome's assured veracity and baptismal justification by ones own inherent holiness, thus leading to purgatory.
Uh huh. The problem with that polemical assertion is that protestants assume for themselves the authority to define what constitutes Him, attributing finite qualities according to their own personal preference. Hence the "alone" qualifier of which they are the arbiter. Belief in God as expressed via negative proposition is not belief at all.
No!! We need them to post the errors and apostacy of Catholicism that we might address those errors with the truth of God's word. I for one have learned a great deal about the depths of the dangers of Catholicism and it's insidious corruption's of God's word.
No, they don't "assume for themselves". True believers rely on the promises of Jesus about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as counselor. That is something Catholics deny to their eternal detriment.
That you were exposed to gospel truth can be somewhat credited to Luther's stand, but Scripture being supreme and justification by faith were not novel doctrines of Luther, and one can see that by simply reading Scripture. A soul today can read Acts 10:36-43 and have his/her purified by faith as the Gentiles there were, and be baptized as they were and follow the Lord by further knowing "the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus," being given by inspiration of God, and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) (2 Timothy 3:15) Thanks be to God.
!
That is the way it has been. i see RCs who were refuted till they had no response, yet just parroted the same parroted polemic again. Maybe they do think they get an indulgence for posting propaganda.
