Jesus on the Cross who had all authority & power to take himself and other off of the cross forgave the thief on the cross beside him who asked him. However Christ did not pardon him of his legal punishment for serious crime given by the government.

This was not the same circumstance as the woman caught in adultery whom the religious leaders wished to stone for Biblical violations that he interceded for.
